“And the other part, the Houston part, just won’t leave the rumour mill. Nurse certainly has ties there — check out his G League history — and one scenario presented this week would have Gersson Rosas, a former Rockets executive acting as an adviser to the Knicks after leaving Minnesota, returning to Houston and trying to bring Nurse with him.”
They are actually on a mini win streak again. Toronto is not a traditional power house in the East. I don't know if a Siakam, VV and Anunoby led team is entitled to a Top 5 seed every season. Maybe that lone championship has messed with fans' heads and expectations. Accountability is certainly better than merely clapping your hands.
Rockets targeting all the 'inappropriate relationship' guys this off-season. All about market inefficiencies
Celtics have better W/L this year without Udoka. So its slight question of Udoka "actual effect". Though they were better on defense with Udoka. Which is something I'm biased toward, that type of ball for this team. But just dont like potential baggage with it. Nurse if available would be a secure add. Getting back some old Morey culture doesnt hurt.
There's connection there. Ime is Nigerian-american, and also played for the Nigerian team. Raptors GM Masai has ties with African NBA prospects, which includes Nigerian players. Masai also lived in Nigeria when he was young. If this ends up meaning Rockets gets Nick Nurse, i think most Rocket fans would be happy. Only thing is Nurse not run super iso-heavy stuff here than he does with Raptors.
Of course Nurse would be much better candidate because of his former Rockets connection/Euroleague experience/Championship experience. He is a champion.
tl;dw, instill a winning culture, player development and improving guys' careers such as tinkering with shots as needed, moving guys up in their careers from 13th man to 9th man, 9th man to 6th man. Get on guys a little when they need it, put your arm around them when they need it. Does mention that it takes rookies a year to learn how to play defense in the NBA because the players are so good. Seems like the kind of stuff a lot of coaches would say, wouldn't really call it "unique". Doesn't mean he's not a good coach though, as people have mentioned a lot of it is just getting guys to buy in and managing the locker room and you can't soundbyte that.
Udoka set the culture for the new coach to come in & succeed. The Rockets need a coach that'll hold guys like Sengun accountable for their defensive mishaps. Udoka is that guy
Eh. That championship Raptotrs team won like 59 games the season before without Kawhi and won 60 that season with Kawhi missing more than half their season. That Raptors team was really damn good without Kawhi. Their only obstacle before Kawhi was Lebron. But Nurse coached an entire team without an elite player to 59 wins in a season. Adding an elite player was the final piece that pushed them over the top.
LOL. Sengun is the only one that has been held accountable for defense. Maybe you were just trolling the Segunatics.
If Rosas had anything to do with that horrible Gobert trade I don’t want him anywhere near the rockets. But if not, sounds good. Yes to Nick Nurse!!!
Same. I feel like Udoka is a better leader but the baggage he'll bring probably makes him a non starter. The women in the org probably will feel uncomfortable around him anyway so not really even sure it's a possibility. Have trouble seeing the Raptors hiring him for that reason too though.
