If they pick fourth they should draft Ivey or trade the pick for a veteran (if you draft Ivey you can also trade him and a pick for a PF). If the top 4 are gone and we are picking 5 we should probably take Sharpe and tank another year or trade for a PF if available. Garuba has looked very good over the last couple of games, and I think he makes the team next year. We need a defensive stopper at PF, but he has to be able to shoot. Tate is fine off the bench, but we will never be a decent rebounding team or defensive team as long as he is starting.
Tate needs to go watch film of PJ Tucker if he wants to stay in the league. They are very similar players.
Tate is shorter, doubtful if he will ever be consistent from three and is not as thick as Tucker. I like Tucker’s engine, but he is a bench player and has regressed this season in my opinion.
I’m not trading 4 unless it’s in a package for a star. At 5, I’d be good with Sharpe, but I’d probably lean Murray. He’d fit in perfectly next to Green and KPJ and provide solid D.
Maybe. Murray would be my second pick at 5. I think at this stage of our re-build taking a risk on a possible generational guy is a better idea, but I do like Murray.
Stone deserves a lot of credit for the success of last year’s draft. Not only is Green starting to look worthy of the #2 pick, but Sengun and Christopher can both make a case for being lotto worthy, and even Garuba is starting to look like an intriguing prospect. Obviously it’s only been one year, but Stone’s 2021 draft is looking like an A, especially since the Allstar beak. This goes a long way with me even though I’ve been frustrated with some of his other moves…or lack there of.
It took him until he was in his late 20's. Tate's a fine guy to have in the rotation off the bench, hopefully he can add that to his game.
We have 2-3 scorers that can get theirs now more consistently but still no guy who could rally the guys around him to make comeback runs and close this ish out. The wins would start pouring in if we found a guy who could make everyone better.
