he wasnt as good as literally one of the best and most efficient bucket getters of all time? color me shocked. having multiple guys who can create their own shot is valuable. much more so than standing in the corner and catching open 3's. Jalen as a 3rd even 4th option would be great. Jalen as a 1st option was terrible. both can be true
No, he wasn't good period. 18 shots on 42% from the field and 54% TS isn't good in any universe, not just in comparison to KD. there's no need to strawman my post to try and make whatever argument you're trying to make c'mon...
I too think it's mainly between the Rockets and Wolves Heat are the random, uninvited dude nobody knows who showed up to the party. Why are u even here?? watch KD end up there anyways because basketball jesus loves screwing with me I'd do Jalen, Brooks, and #10 for sure...or my preference of Jalen/Jock/whatever other salary filler, and a pick FVV/Reed Amen/Brooks KD/? Bari/Tari Sengun/Adams?
No need think of them as top 3 picks - they're not top 3 picks they're a decent but not great high usage lead guard who probably isn't good enough to be a #1 on a biggish contract and a decent role player. That is a perfectly acceptable price for a Durant dice roll.
Not trying to trade for 37 year old Durant first off and definitely not wanting to pay a $120 million dollar extension he was discussing. Butler got 120 million so he'll very likely want at least the same. Pass Suns, Kevin Durant plan on $120M extension after season November 20 - Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia plans to offer Kevin Durant a $120 million extension this summer after he said the two sides bypassed the eligible one-year agreement in July. Ishbia told ESPN there's mutual interest in a deal that would bring both sides closer to their goal of the 14-time NBA All-Star retiring with the franchise eventually. "(Durant) loves being in Phoenix, we love having him," Ishbia told ESPN. "He's off to an amazing start this season -- one of the MVP leaders -- and we're off to a very good start. We expect Kevin to sign an extension, be with us for the long term. We hope he finishes his career here in Phoenix. You can't sign a two-year extension this last summer, you can't do it based on the NBA rules. So we figured after the season we'll talk about it, take care of it. "Kevin wants to be here, we want Kevin here. There's never been one grumbling of anything different." Durant's current contract expires after the 2025-26 season. All-Star sidekick Devin Booker is in the first season of a four-year, $220 million contract extension he signed to stay in Phoenix. Durant remains sidelined by a calf injury that has knocked him out of the Suns' lineup for the past six games. Phoenix is 1-5 without Durant after starting the season 8-1. Durant, 36, is averaging 27.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game this season. --Field Level Media https://www.reuters.com/sports/suns-kevin-durant-plan-120m-extension-after-season-2024-11-20/
That trade is absolutely awful from ESPN. Reed and Cam both have lotto pick value so they basically want us giving DB and 4 firsts for 37 year old KD? No thanks!
Having two guys who can create their own shot does not guarantee offensive success. Even top tier scorers need to be in the right roles to be utilized correctly. Prime Harden and Westbrook could both create their own shots, but on the same team together the chemistry was lacking. Harden was best with the ball in his hands and Westbrook could not space the floor for him at all. Their styles were not complementary. Having Westbrook on the floor just made Harden's job harder. KD has an elite shot but is primarily an iso scorer. Jalen's ability to play off ball or even be efficient in general has not been proven. Maybe KD's presence opens up lanes for Jalen, but it's more likely that Jalen makes KD's job harder.
ESPN and other outlets love doing this type of stuff How is what Minnesota is giving up anywhere near equivalent to what the other 2 teams are? 33 y/o unplayable in the playoffs Rudy Gobert making 35 mil/yr the next 3 seasons, an average role player in Dante, and Rob Dillingham with no picks for KD? they'll say Amen Thompson, Jabari, Reed, Tari, Cam, 4 picks and 3 swaps for Giannis...then turn around and have San Antonio giving up Harrison Barnes, Vassell, Sochan, and 3 picks for the same player that would leave us with a lineup of FVV/Holiday? Jalen/? Amen/Tari KD/Bari Sengun/Adams? I'm not sure what your opinion of us acquiring KD is, but would u do that deal?
Our trade seems too expensive, but I get the overarching logic. We’d basically be running it back with KD instead of Brooks. FVV / Green / KD / Amen / Sengun, with Bari and Eason off the bench. I mean, that’s a pretty great top 7. I’d be seriously tempted if we could keep one of the two FRPs.
Going to be so ticked when we trade Green, Bari, #10, and the PHX picks for Durant. Then turn around and resign FVV for $35m per.
Agreed, we'll be playing ourselves long term and make the Suns better. A shaky two year window with a 120 million dollar extension for injury history Durant until he's 39, versus long term potential of a core of 22 year olds already at the #2 seed.
Reed Sheppard, Cam Whitmore, Dillon Brooks, Collin Murray Boyles and Jock Landale is a better starting unit than what the Suns are currently fielding.
Which discussed package would you prefer to trade? Not which you’d like in general, but which you’d prefer between the two. Green, Bari, and #10 or Brooks, Cam, Sheppard, Landale, #10, Phx 2027
