I think players like Booker are infatuated with Kobe Bean, Dirk and Duncan, and they want to stay with 1 NBA team......no matter if it is feasible even.
The perfect answer to "why does such and such need 4 years to show what they can do?" Because in the entire history of the NBA, there are less than a handful of teams that tanked as irresponsibly as we did. The coach was bad at developing players, the GM was forcing losses and undermining the staff (and losses means depressed stats), the starting PG was beating his gf and the staff skipped teaching players accountability for defense and shot selection. Hell the owner was on TV saying "Pray for Wemby" while the players were enduring this. A rookie and sophomore teenage Jalen Green should never have been allowed to take 17 shots per game - he should have had to somewhat earn it but instead they loved that it was generating losses. We deepened their bad habits. As Sengun recounts, by year 2 if you didn't check out mentally you were just going to be depressed so they had to start smiling and joking after losses. That's not the same us "uhhhhh, but other people get drafted to bad teams and it doesn't affect them". Stephon Castle was only able to get 12 shots a game at age 20. Jalen Green should not have gotten 17 shots per game till last season. Sengun should have been working on his rim protection and 3pt shooting from day 1 of his career since he was already an advanced post scorer. People don't want to admit that those 2 years held us back. That's why the players' offensive skills - especially Sengun and Green TS% - is taking time. You can teach someone to rebound and play defense pretty quickly as long as they're willing defenders. However offensive skills take time to sharpen. Sad that this happened but it is what it is and hopefully we're able to catch all of them up, we're almost there.
We dont need anyone special though we already have a nice young core including Sengun who is already an all star and Amen who is trending to be a superstar. We just need to add to our core and let them gel and grow up. If you look at the Pacers its the same thing they have Hali who is like our Amen and then Siakam who is an all star similar to Sengun. The rest of their team are good role players nobody would call TJ Mconnell, Obi Toppin and Mathurin etc special in fact before the playoffs nobody gave Pacers a shot. They were able to go toe to toe vs OKC with their depth and team chemistry I prefer that approach then making yet another big 3 with a 37 yr old Durant.
