Same, i prefer FVF my self i know hes a true winner in general. But you know if the owners are chasing this move it might be for the money.
I mean, that’s the only scenario that makes any semblance of sense. Let’s say they are not doing well and are desperate to get out of the second apron next season, so they offer Durant for, say, FVV, Bari, and only one of their picks. Interested at all?
Going back, what if the Drexler trade actually made us worse. We won another ring but then we got Barkley. Can you imagine if we were good for the next 10 years during that time and had more opportunities to win?
Don't get it twisted. Jalen got his extension but probably won't be here long-term. As I mentioned a while back, Jalen and his camp would have felt disrespected if Rockets extended Sengun before him, which is why they announced Jalen's extension first. Jalen publicly claimed he wasn't focused on his contract, but that isn't true. It's worth noting that since this is a rookie-scale extension, there's no time based restriction regarding when the Rockets can trade him (please correct me if I'm wrong). It's good that the salary matches his talent level so they won't have to give up more assets than necessary if they were to trade him. If he shows he's on Devin Booker's level and Durant becomes available then I think FVV and Jabari are the odd men out. I personally hope Jalen will become a star as a Rocket.
“Although the Suns aggressively shot down Kevin Durant trade speculation over the summer, Stein writes that there’s still a “strong belief” around the league that the Rockets remain interested in the star forward and would be ready to pounce if he becomes available within the next year or two.” “According to Stein, rival teams also “increasingly” mention Houston as a potential suitor to watch if the Heat ever consider trading Jimmy Butler, who was identified multiple times during the offseason as a potential target of interest for the Rockets.” https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2024/10/western-notes-rockets-kd-butler-lebron-nuggets-kings.html
Durant is old af now and trading for him would be costly. The cost would be worth it if he was 3 years younger. I'd gladly take a 33yo KD over whoever we have at the 4. He's way too old to be trading for him, cant even stay healthy in the regular season. There's only one player who never seems to age and that's Lebron and even Lebron is showing signs of aging now. Imo, once he hits 40+ that's when he'll fall off a cliff just like with anyone else.
Jabari will step up, don’t worry. Durant a good option but not worth giving up more than one good pick or prospect. Don’t think they’ll settle for that.
if they’re trying to get KD, it needs to happen this season…especially if they’re still struggling to even be a play-in team try to finesse them a package headlined by Jabari Smith and his “potential” if he’s still playing like buns
I'd be more open to getting Durant than Butler. Durant can still play, I think he'll still be able to play 3-4 years even and he's a good teammate and a good vet that will make whoever we have left a little better in their approach towards the game and we would definitely 100% get into the playoffs with Durant. It's just a matter as to who we are going to give away for him. I'm sure Durant wouldn't mind playing in the city but I doubt he wants to spend his last few good years on a young team.
lol I’m gonna assume this is sarcasm because if not, somebody please check cheke64 for a fever and assess for delirium ASAP
Lulz at Ferrtutta coming in, dismantling the aging team that nearly beat GSW, only to spin wheels for years, then swap the young pieces for aging Butler/KD? Yall wasting yalls time with this peepee team.
We should have held on to Robert and Sam and used chemistry to extend that window with younger players. My biggest what if in team history was if we had traded Sampson to Portland for #2 and Drexler. Imagine a young core of Hakeem Olajuwon, Michael Jordan and Clyde Drexler?
Of course they are ..... BUT Are they capable of delivering a championship in the 2 years or so they have left? I think the likely answer to that is no .... mainly because they haven't even come close with much better rosters and other superstars around them in LAC and PHX. They couldn't do it together in OKC their primes either .... What's changed? They got older and aren't what they were .... We really don't know what this current group of Rockets are capable of .... Given the presumption, I have to give the young cast a chance. EDIT: Id explore trading Greengoon .... just not for those two.
As the Kevin Durant landscape continues to unfold heading into the NBA trade deadline on Thursday, and the Phoenix Suns continue to gauge the market for the 15-time All-Star and former MVP, the Golden State Warriors aren’t the only team trying to find a way to land the 36-year-old superstar. League sources say the Dallas Mavericks, fresh off their Luka Dončić-for-Anthony Davis swap that sent shockwaves through the Association, have dreams of adding Durant to their Davis-Kyrie Irving-led group. While the likelihood of Dallas pulling this off now appears unlikely, the mere idea of Durant joining Dallas’ star-studded group sheds new light on the thinking of Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison after he was roundly ridiculed for the Dončić deal. Whether it’s Durant (now or later), or perhaps even the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James in the summer if he were to decline his player option for next season, the 52-year-old Harrison appears to be targeting big-time stars with whom he’s very familiar from his past life as a top Nike executive. The goal, of course, is to win a championship as soon as possible. With Durant’s deal expiring in the summer of 2026, and the Suns continuing to fall well short of the title contention they’d envisioned when they traded for him in February 2023, rival teams have been monitoring his situation, and the possibility of his availability, for quite some time. And not surprisingly, given Durant’s status as one of the all-time greats, there is no shortage of competition. League sources say the Houston Rockets, whose longtime interest in the Suns’ Devin Booker is likely to be revisited before the deadline, are known to be contemplating a pursuit of Durant as well. While the Rockets (32-17) have not been interested in pursuing older stars like James Harden and Durant in the recent past, the impressive speed of their rebuild may have changed the internal equation on that front. They are currently third in the Western Conference, with every reason to believe a game-changing addition at the deadline might vault them into true title contender status. With Butler continuing to angle his way toward the Suns, Phoenix might need to move Durant for the kind of returns that allows it to enhance its offer to Miami. As of now, league sources say the Suns’ messaging about their willingness to trade Durant is different depending on the team. In exploratory conversations, the Warriors have only been met with an exorbitant asking price in theoretical structures — essentially everything of future value — considering the tricky spot the Suns seem to find themselves. League sources say four-time All-Star forward Draymond Green, who has an established relationship with fellow Michigan State alum and Suns owner Mat Ishbia, is among the Warriors players Phoenix is known to covet. The Suns also have indicated a level of interest in fourth-year forward Jonathan Kuminga, a player the Warriors drafted seventh overall in 2021, have been protective of in most trade discussions for years and still view as part of the future. But Durant’s potential availability, and this once-unthinkable notion of him reuniting with the franchise he helped lead to two titles, has a way of altering the discussion.
