Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NBA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Houston Rockets fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys. This week’s question was about the dominant NBA rumors right now, which is surrounding the fate of Kevin Durant. The Rockets have been linked to the Phoenix Suns and Durant for a while now, and it’s been no different during these latest rumors. The Rockets reportedly have held talks with the Suns, being willing to offer Jalen Green and the 10th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and no more. The Suns, on the other hand, are willing to take Green provided they can get a third team involved to pawn Jalen off on, but are reportedly also asking the Rockets for Jabari Smith Jr., Tari Eason or Reed Sheppard, as well as additional draft capital. At least for now, there appears to be a chasm between what the Suns want and what the Rockets are prepared to offer. So we decided to ask the Rockets fan base if they wanted to trade for KD. Here are the results: As you can see, most of you do not want KD. I echo that sentiment. I honestly don’t even want KD for the Rockets offer of Green and the 10th pick. KD in my opinion no longer affects winning. He’s a selfish player who cares very little about the team he’s on and only what he can get for himself. He’s bad vibes, and that’s the last thing we need on a team currently full of good vibes. If Durant was still one of the best players in the league, the Suns would have made the playoffs this year with that lineup. He’s nothing more than a hired mercenary. If we’re bringing in a veteran, they need to be a leader. Even in his prime, Durant was never that. The only titles he’s won were alongside what was already established as one of the greatest teams in NBA history, and now that he’s 37, injury-prone, playing 50-60 games per season, seems to never be happy anywhere he plays, is always looking elsewhere, and is going to command a massive extension, I’d rather leave him as someone else’s problem. The Rockets have enough young talent and draft ammunition to go after any superstar they want. Why settle for an old man who could fall off a cliff at literally a moment’s notice? No, thank you. I’m glad most Rockets fans feel the same way.
I'm fine with having Durant, FVV, Brooks, and Adams deals all expiring when Amen gets paid. A max free agent with Amen, Reed, Jabari, and Sengun is pretty solid....
eh, Rockets fans are sheep. They tend to support the current state of affairs and WHATEVER the org does. As soon as the Rockets actually make a trade, the fans will all overwhelmingly support whatever that trade is, even if 15 minutes ago they hated that idea.
People are out here saying Klay Thompson and the 2010s Warriors -> therefore JABARI SMITH JUNIOR - I ****ing give up man. I'll bet you a million billion gazillion dollars Jabari Smith Junior never makes an all star team, because he is not as good as Klay Thompson was at - literally anything! Shooting, scoring, defending, dribbling passing. Maybe rebounding bc he's 6-11 but that's it. I can't think of a better example than Klay Thompson to explain how much less valuable a stretch 4 who can't dribble. An elite all time great movement shooter & perimeter defender who could, in fact dribble, is the polar opposite of stretch 4 plodder Jabari Smith Junior.
Absolutely... and I'd certainly take both of them making 30 mil each over Jalen making 33 mil. At least Tari and Jabari are useful players.
Got gifted by the league for Wemby and the 2nd pick, castle was a ROY in a weak class and nothing to play for, they still haven’t made the playoffs and have an unproven coach
Jabari had Silas his first year. So thats a bunch of crap comparison. and just took your word for it even though it sounded wrong. He did not win ROY lol.
I really like Tari too - but his injury situation would cause me to lean towards Jabari over him going forward. I would like to keep both
Agreed, very close to retiring in general at 37, let alone the injury risk history and discussed bloated contract with a $120 Million extension to age 40. Here's an older report Kevin said he wasn't a leader, but the great majority of general Rockets and Clutchfans don't want him so they have to be off right?
My bad, basketball reference was off. Mcw won ROY of that year. My point was the other guy said you would have traded Giannis at 22 and I said “well giannis had actually showed really good things from his rookie year to his 22 year old self” Giannis had Jason Kidd has his coach who was notoriously bad over there
