At least give me this…..you would agree that Jalen is a better player than Dillon Brooks? I am fine including Green in a package for a sub-37 year old (Giannis), but based on age Brooks, Sheppard, and 10th pick is easier to stomach than giving up an all world dunk machine athlete in Green.
if the inclusion of Jabari smith gets the deal done, bye Jabari. (I’m assuming it would be JG, Jabari, 10th pick and filler). Brooks stays). if the inclusion of Reed Sheppard gets the deal done, bye Reed. Durant is old but remains elite. People harp on the old part, but don’t recognize how unstoppable KD remains. We can limit him to 28 mins and skip b2b if needed. He gives us exactly what this roster needs. We get to find out what Amen can become with spacing. Same with Sengun. Hell, we get to find out what Cam whitmore can become.
Charania shares an update on the Spurs and Kevin Durant: "There's a certain price threshold they'll go to for a guy like Kevin Durant, and if that price doesn't align with Phoenix's, then clearly there's just not going to be a deal."
I like everything you said... except that SAS is in front of us. Wemby has had two major season ending injuries in his career. If he stays clear of injuries the rest of his career, they are even with the Rockets. I think they are behind because Wemby is too fragile.
His shooting and defense has improved. You can't teach size... The same people criticizing Jabari often give Jalen a pass which is weird.
What was Houston’s offer or what was/wasn’t involved? I don’t know on the Houston side. Green wants to stay in Houston & appears to be concerned about not being there. Jalen would be part of that deal. When the Rockets were looking at Giannis potentially, Sengun would’ve been heading out in that one. I don’t know the exact Rockets offer. They’re like San Antonio. Not in love with the timeline and not looking to give up too much of that young core.
Uh.... cam thomas. Better player, same age, same draft... Went #27... Inefficient scoring wings are like 12 of the first round picks every year.
I don't get how many people are saying with confidence that the Rockets "aren't close" so why bother. I'm not saying the Rockets are for sure a contender with KD, But adding him along with possible internal improvement from the younger players, being a true title contender isn't some pipe dream. If we had a lead scorer that gave us anything whatsoever we would have been in the conference finals this season.
Durant does all the things we want of Jalen. It would be a waste. Jalen on 10-12 shots a game negates in potential value. Our defensive downgrade would be massive.
Not sure how spurs are ahead. Their defense was well below average even when victor and castle played. New coaching, unreliable stars for attendance, no shooting... sounds like a playin team to me...
I think your takes are usually great, but have to strong disagree with you. You are describing things KD was. Even the last time we saw him in March 2025 is past tense. I would love to trade for who KD was 2 years ago. I could even maybe see trading for him if we could teleport the last version we saw in March 2025 to the next playoffs in June 2026. But we can’t do that. The aging curve is real. Basketball is not stationary. He will be 37.7 the next time the playoffs come around. He will not be the player you are thinking of from the last game he played. Nobody has played a star level role in a Finals run at that age or older in the modern game. And that’s year 1 of 3. The age KD is at, right now, is one at which every all time great is in the process of steep fall off, if they hadn’t already. All of them. It is inexorable. With KD it is not conjecture, the decline has already started and is apparent empirically. There is no more reliable bet in basketball than the aging curve. And btw no, he did not rebound or pass well last year - he had the worst rebounding and passing years of his career to date (DRB%, ORB%, AST%, AST/TO). There’s a reason all his impact metrics and advanced on/offs etc were way down last year.
I'm not following... less efficient scorer, worse defense..... I guess he's a better passer? Green misses so many shots in the paint... like watching a male version of Angel Reese... hoping for the whistle half the time...
So from all reports, Jalen is for sure out on the Durant deal. I just hope they don't add anymore to the deal.
I thought Jalen improved his shooting efficiency last season which was my biggest concern. The other concern was consistency, which he also improved…until the playoffs. I’m not desperately trying to trade Jalen but I do think the contract extension was unwise. I think we should have done what Golden State did with Kuminga or what OKC did with Giddy. Jalen is not even a top 5 player from that draft class. And sure, I think he’s better than Dillon, but he didn’t shoot better than Dillon or defend better than Dillon and he makes a lot more money than Dillon. I have more faith in Sengun and Amen to develop into true franchise plsyers. We dont know what we have in Reed yet. To me, Jalen and Jabari both have questions and are replaceable. With Jalen’s contract I’d rather move him, but I don’t see either as essential to our success.
I mean "nobody has played a star level role in a Finals run at that age" is kind of a bad test. That's because finals runs are rare, and so are older players!
