But from the Suns' perspective, once he is traded... he is not their "problem" anymore. Absolutely agree what the Raps would do if they were successful. It did work out before with Kawhi tho.... that could be the logic
That's a whole other conversation about what you wish would happen. That's fine you're entitled to your opinion. Logic dictates that if Green is your leading scorer - with the same scoring efficiency as Sengun btw - then when Durant arrives he will most likely be your second leading scorer. Maybe he goes down to 3rd. Maybe even 4th who knows?! But to say he'll get as many shots as Tyus Jones did last season is not realistic and you're treating it as a given. The most likely scenario is Green will be the 2nd or 3rd leading scorer on the team.
If he’s taking more shots it means Durant has successfully spread the floor and Jalen is getting to the hoop with greater frequency. I also predict he would live at the FT line as the Rockets would be a more popular team league wide with Amen, Jalen, Sengun, and Durant. Probably a whole lot more national games.
[The Bill Simmons Podcast] Simmons after speculating last week Durant to San Antonio is done deal: "Houston not only needs Durant, but becomes a really interesting team if they can add him" 1:03:00
Remember when just yesterday the Suns were looking around the league to see if they get stuck with Jalen Green in a trade, who they might be able to dump him on because they wouldn't want him on their team at all? That's the guy some are still talking up as a star.
We don't "need" Durant. We were the #2 seed last season with 7 young prospects, the oldest of which is was 23 years old, and solid draft capital going forward. He is a want at a reasonable cost, not a need.
They shoot the same exact catch and shoot % so this doesn't make any sense. If you just want someone to take catch and shoot 3's, then the guy who's 6 years younger can do that plus run with Amen in transition plus actually attack closeouts plus plus.
No, his value isn’t higher than what people on here believe. There’s a reason why the Suns will pull the trigger around a player like Castle instead of Jalen. You guys just have your head of your ass about Jalen’s value. He’s been a starter since he got here with the longest leash on the team and is still an inefficient chucker whose mentally soft. After this coming season you guys will be crying the same excuses going into his 6th year in the league.
Age isn't relevant. Jalen isn’t likely on the team after his contract is up. It's who is the better player the next 3 years.
Funny how the anti-Green folks also seem to be the dumbest and the types to resort to childish language.
Sengun's efficiency may be the same but he takes fewer shots and misses fewer shots. Jalen gets a boost from the 3s relative to Sengun, but he misses a lot more shots overall. That's opportunity cost. Sengun doesn't miss those because another player is taking them.
Yea let’s enjoy another first round exit with a flawed team. Our team is so flawed that teams were manipulating their record at the end in order to play us. But thank god I’m not a GM. It takes a brilliant one to construct a 2 seed that lost in the first round to a 7 seed. Keep enjoying mediocrity but at least we got homegrown “talent”
Like counting 40 point games? He had 2 of them last year. I guess that makes up for the 12 games he didn't score double digits....
You’re so ridiculous. Did you ever consider that our young players might improve and that a team that is full of 22-year-olds and has improved from a 20-win team to a 50-win team in 2 years could continue to get better? Your solution is to mortgage the future for a 37-yr-old who, at most, gives us a 3-year window if we feel like paying him 60m per year after his contract ends. If we could add a legit franchise player then by all means we should pursue that. But Durant is not that anymore and blowing our load on him, as you are so eager to do, could actually keep us from being able to move when the time is right. Shortsighted idiocy. We are trying to build for the long haul.
