Looks like a couple of second round picks. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/sports/bk/bkn/1382284
So there should be at least some trading going on. If we get Miami's pick, it would mean 2 first rounders and 3 second rounders. Maybe not exciting stuff, but you gotta think some of those second rounders will be moved for future picks or bundled to move up a bit.
That's what I want to know to. I thought I read somewhere on here that we lost our 2nd round pick already (trade?)?
The Rockets also hold the Pistons' second-round pick, 53rd overall, from the Raptors in the Olajuwon deal and could receive Miami's second-round pick, 38th overall. Sorry guys, it's only one second round pick. Feigen's statement isn't real clear. It should read:".....and could trade the 53rd pick for Miami's second round pick, 38th overall." We traded our second rounder away in the Willis acquisition.
So, we have our lotto pick, Toronto's 15th ,our own 2nd rounder and the 53rd pick in the 2nd rd? 4 picks in all?
NJR, no. We do not have our own pick. We traded our #2 for Willis. We have #5, #15, and Detroit's #53; 3 picks. There's been a lot of confusion in the press about Detroit's second rounder. This is my best theory: Detroit had the right to swap their #2 in '02 and '03 for Miami's #2 in '02. They traded their #2 in '02 along with the swap option to Toronto who sent it to Houston. Houston now has Detroit's #53. But, they have the option to swap it for Miami's #38. If they do the swap (and there's no reason why they shouldn't), Detroit will have to pay Miami their #2 in 2003. In the end, the Rockets would draft at #5, #15, and #38. Miami would draft at #53; Detroit wouldn't pick in the second round. Miami would get Detroit's second rounder in 2003.
Thanks for checking on this JV and clearing up the 2nd rounder situation. But obviously our lotto pick is undetermined (5th slot but more than likely not the 5th pick) and should the second pick be listed at 14/15 for now (determined by coin flip between Indy-Tor).
