True enough; but he seldom Hulks out, especially at Toyota Center.

Great selling point to other teams! "He won't ever be bad, because he won't be playing at the Toyota Center, if he's on your team!"

You're simply not getting it. Even when he's not hitting, the mere threat of him standing out there forces his defender to respectfully guard him. You can't EVER sag off Ryan Anderson. That gives us the spacing to allow James & CP to freely drive the lanes. So the question is do we trade Ryno & sacrifice floor spacing (what 95% of our offense is predicated on) simply for more defense? I don't know if I'd do that. But if he plays like he did in last year's playoffs, then maybe we pull the trigger on a trade. The thing is with CP here I don't think it's possible for him to disappear like that

Our philosophy, coach, players create space by design. Thanks Morey. Ryno is not responsible for space and outside of the last few games what has he done with it? I would rather have a Gerald Green who plays his ass off on both sides of the ball and can create on his own. Ryno doesn't work for us and I don't believe there is a better situation for him to work. I see him pump fake himself to death and drive and take a wild off balance shot you know is never going in rather than repositioning for another 3 or just not getting run off in the first place. If Ryno is receiving a ball uncontested in open space like he has with CP3 he tends to be more successful. So does everyone. 5-10 games of production a year is not success, its a miracle. Teams know how to stop him so easily they don't even have to try. He has a permanent confidence problem and is a one-dimensional anchor we cannot survive in the long run.

    I like his new aggressiveness.
Because it will force teams to NOT hard rush him . . or not as hard
HE is not GREAT at driving but . . if he gets better to decent
I think it will open up his shot

that's just a theory but not DATA supports that

in reality for the whole season, the off rating worsens from 113.1 when he's off court to 112.0 to on court. That means at best we are scoring with ease the same either he's on or off court. Pace adjusted, no impact on the offensive side as well.

While the defense worsens from 100.9 when's he's off court to 107.2 on court. The opponents outscore the rockets by 6 points when he's on the court.

as I said because he's a virtually ZERO IMPACT on offense and at least a -5 IMPACT on defense, he has the worst overall impact among our PFs

They don't NEED his bird rights to exceed the cap to re-sign him. They have MLE, BAE, and veteran minimum options. As I said, how much do you really think 33 year old Ariza will get in this market?

The cap space scenario is only viable if Paul and Lebron are willing to split something like $40 million between the two of them.

Hey Cleveland, we'll trade you Ryan Anderson with a sprained ankle along with Eric Gordon and a couple of picks for Lebron! :):):):)

For those wondering if we are going to trade Lebron.

The Cavs really want to get out of Lux Tax if Lebron does end up leaving.

Gordon and Anderson would not help that situation. No trade happening.

I just realized this after Clutch's podcast, but we used the BAE on Tarik Black last year which means we don't have the BAE this summer. We'll have the full MLE though assuming we're not over the tax apron. I'd prefer to use the MLE on those like Luc since we don't have Bird rights on him but we do with Ariza.

Ahh you're right about Tarik Black. Good point, but I believe MLE hits 8.9 mil this summer. That's realistically enough for both of them, and MLE can be split among multiple players. Idk if I'd be comfortable paying either more than ~ 4 - 5 mil.

Rockets will not have the BAE and are not resigning him with the TP MLE or the minimum. Rockets absolutely need his Bird rights. Ariza is a 3&D wing, the most sought after commodity in this market. Almost everyone will be able to offer more than we can and will if we don't resign him using Bird rights.

    In the off Season
A Trade will happen because while they may not want to help LeBron
They know they can help themselves

Taking on EGO and Anderson may not be their best plan
    but
Getting rid of Contracts like JR Smith and Shumpert is intheir best interest

They will take Ego and Anderson
IF it means getting rid of those contracts

I'm starting to think/hope that we won't have to pay as much for these guys. The word out there is that there isn't enough money to go around for the lower tier players. We might be seeing a big swing/market adjustment from the summer of 2016.

I think you overvaluing Ariza's market. He has one of the worst defensive ratings for his position, his legs are worn out, his 3PT shot is really the only consistency he has today. I expect Rockets to get a hometown discount for him or let him walk. His value on this team has become more chemistry oriented than production oriented. I highly doubt 33 year old Trevor Ariza is getting above MLE, especially with the strapped market due to teams overspending in 2016.
