Kenny is faster than most pfs but would not have that same affectivness against sfs. KT and Mo T don't have a good enough 3 point shot to play the sf. Taylor is way too slow to play out there. Eddie right now seems to be more of a KG, Horry, R. Lewis, Nervisski type player. He is versitle and can play 3 4 or 5. Given that he plays the 3 better than our other fowards he sould play some munites there. Now a days they have three catogorees Center, Fowards, and Guards. Your guards and fowards should be interchangable. Put your best defensive team out there that can still put up some offensive numbers.

Assuming he's healthy enough to play, what are you gonna do in a couple of games when Shaq comes to town? You're gonna let a 6'9 19-year-old-rookie and KT try to handle Shaq? Nah, that's why we pay Cato the big bucks.

You got me on that one, but this is a line-up (Francis, Mobley, Torres, Thomas, and Griffin) that will work most of the time.

We would have to use an "unconventional" line-up, i.e. start Cato. It is similar to when we played Dallas & everyone was healthy, Rudy used an unconventional line-up in starting the Wizard at C.

When we take on a team that has a physical monster like Shaq at C, then Cato can start; however, other than Shaq, what other centers exist that are over 7 feet tall and weigh over 300 lbs? Not many...probably none (Thomas Hamilton doesn't count because he is no longer in the league).

We need help on the boards and Eddie playing the 3 takes care of that responsibility.

In addition, I have seen Garnett shut down Kobe Bryant with his long arms. Also, I do not want to kill Eddie's 3 point stroke by changing him into a center and having to bang with Shaq and others.

Yes, he will create a mismatch on the offensive, however, we still have MoTaylor at the 4 not rebounding and Rice/Morris.

We are getting killed on the boards and the poor defensive effort.

    Wow man,
you're the only poster I've seen who wants Eddie shooting 3s. :) I'm glad he has the range too; I don't see how making him a center means he won't be able to shoot 3s. Sabonis shot 3s. So did Sammy Perkins. So does Cliff Robinson. Granted, he's not a true center, but Eddie may never be a 'true' center. We'll have to wait and see.

If TMo can learn to hit the 3 consistently, I'd love to have him be the starting SF. He'd help with boards, help defense, and weakside shot-blocking.

What about when San Antonio comes to town and they have 2 7-foot monsters???

I don't wanna beat a dead horse, and I think you can see where I'm going. I guess our difference of opinion is that I believe starting Griffin at the 5 should be the "unconventional" lineup and starting Cato should be relatively standard. Teams like the Lakers & Spurs (dare I include the Kings?) -- with legit 7-footers -- are the championship contenders. I'm not asking Cato to be some sort of dominating force on both ends of the court, but if he can play solid, and I KNOW he can D-up on Shaq better than anyone, then in my opinion that's the type of lineup we need to contend for the championship. I'm opposed to just throwing talent on the court. If that were the case you could start the 5 best PGs in the league and win a championship. But in reality it doesn't work that way. At least I don't think so.

Griffin is not the future 5 IMO. To play the 5, you need to carry the bulky body frame and Eddie seems like a sleek frame (Garnettish). He is not blessed with bulkiness, more of a sleek muscle type. This kid will grow, but no more than 6'10/11" 240ish--just adding more muscle and dropping some fat....even Akeem was 240ish coming into the league. This makes him an ideal 4/3 type and occassional 5 against weaker centers.
