I thought Sampson was the Defensive coach.

He left for UH before the playoffs... He definitely would have helped vs Portland.

Howard and Harden are the reason coaches don't want to come here

No. Who want to be the assistant coach with an idiot head coach who named McFail?

Seems like a pretty good opportunity to get your foot in the door for a head coaching gig next year...

Why do this now? Whether he is a scapegoat or he sucks at coaching the timing doesn't make sense. Why not do it earlier so they can have their choice of top assistants and give them more time with the players during the summer?

They did it right at the end of the season IIRC. This is an old thread.

Check the date. Cooper was fired in May.

Much like their free agent pursuits, no such luck in bringing in a coach.

It's not even clear to me they've even really tried. I think they talked to Hollins, I heard some rumors about Mike Brown and Lawrence Frank. That's about it.

    Half-ass attempt?

That is true. They went after Hollins, he wasn't interested. Cyberx told us Mike Brown(fwiw). He also told us today about Chauncey Billups as a 'special assistant'. (LOL)

I like the part where Morey says it's up to Kevin who they want to hire if any and he's content with that.

Are you ****ing kidding? Dude fires Rick, hand picks all the staff, fires dean and all of a sudden it's up for grabs? I wish

Lmfao Kevin McHale can't do his own job and doesn't know the requirements of his job and you leave it up to this incompetent fool to decide his assistant. That is bad news right there.

All of this just leads up to an easy firing reason should we not get off to an acceptable start. Had Hollins taken the (temporary) assistant job, he would have been given the reigns soon after.

If McHale was the recruiter for K Love and K Love is no longer on the table, he has outlived his usefulness if he doesn't right the ship, defensively.

Anyone can coach our offese: "Ram it down their throats and the kick it out".

This is Morey tying the noose around McHale's neck. The more inept Mchale seems during the season, the more credibility Morey will have for not giving him another contract as coach.
