Houston doesnt support average teams. Even when Yao and tracy were doing their thing, the rockets were just ok in attendance. Look at the 94 playoffs prior to the maxwell comments. If you want people to spend their hard earned money, put a better product on the floor.
The Summit used to be packed in the Twin Towers days. Unfortunately the new era of fans that the Rockets cater to are the big business fortune 500 Hoity-Toity crowd that arrive late and leave early, and during the game hangout in the lexus lounge drinking their mai tai's.
we almost made through the season without one.... fwiw, i hate the finding parking, expensive food, and no cup holders??? Really a freaking cup holder would change your decision? I've only paid parking probably 5 times out of the 5 season I've been a season ticket holder and they were because it was a day MLK game where I HAD to pay. Like Stevierebel said, I've been a tix holder since 06-07 season, do your part or stop b****ing. Its just going to be so much sweeter for me and the rest of the dedicated fans when everybody wants to jump the bandwagon again. Quick rant: Some dude yesterday asked if we still had Lowry cause I was wearing my Lowry jersey, I was like "No, we traded Brooks", and he answered "Well I KNOW THAT" like I was the dumbass. I bet he thought TMac was still on the team. I swear, sometimes I just want to call out every fake fan there is out there.
As far as I understand it, most of the lower bowl is parceled out to corporations and ticket brokers. Whoever it is, they don't show up most of the time, which personally I think is great because I can just mosey on down to the best seats in the house more often than not. If you've never bought an upper bowl ticket and treated yourself to fifth-row seats, you're missing out on a crucial Toyota Center experience. In my experience, the upper bowl is always great. Toyota Center may be carefully arranged to maximize profits, but there's not a bad seat in the place.
I was at the game yesterday and at the beginning of the game, the Boston fans were louder than our own fans......pretty sad
Actually, unless you couldn't find a spot on MLK, you don't HAVE to pay. It's one of the recognized city holidays so parking is free on MLK day. http://www.houstontx.gov/parking/faq.htm Hopefully that will save you $$$ in the future. Anyways, I'm kind of a season ticket holder, I just pay for my tickets in a different way- with my voice, sweat, energy, & sign making skills. The Red Rowdies organization is a great way for people to enjoy lower bowl season tickets to Rockets games for FREE (BTW, lower level seats have DRINK HOLDERS!). Of course you have to be rowdy, stand and chant the whole game, but it's awesome. If and when I'm no longer a Red Rowdy, I will be a paying season ticket holder. They've got some fantastic perks. I go crazy watching home games on TV if I cannot make it to the game (not because of Clyde's commentary) but because I'm not there!
to me you've been become an icon, they should just promote you. I can't imagine you not being a red rowdy. You are a professional and a leader and I hope you retire a red rowdy.
^this also comps give employes tickets and they don't show. When they do they're a crap crowd most of the time.
Tickets are expensive. To some people $20 is nothing, but I wish I had $20 on a nightly basis to throw on a game. I need every dollar I get for rent/food. Talk down if you want, I can't afford to go to games, otherwise I'd be at every one.
You are right it is a recession and I don't blame you for not wasting your money on such a trivial thing like rockets tickets. I am not really talking down on anyone, but it is just kind of sad that we have such bad attendance. I blame the rockets management as well. They need to lower their prices with such lack luster attendance. Maybe cut down on the marketing and visuals during the game make the prices as low as possible. I mean the more people you get to show up the more you can charge 9 bucks for beer and 5 bucks for cotton candy. However there are a lot of people who can afford and who don't even care. Even a team like Detroit with their economic woes are outdrawing us. My thread has harsh title and it should be renamed, but I was just pissed at the time that it is all texans all the time. Its like the Rockets are just a minor league team or something. If a mod can change the title I would be much obliged.
It's a combination of the recession, the lack of big name players, and the fact that you can watch the game at your house in HD for cheaper.
yeah....and...yeah, yeah... And they proliy gradjew-ated from Duke.. Gawd DAM Uncle tommyhilfiger SOB's !!! I hate um. zzpot grr grrr puff puff
The entire lower bowl isn't even being sold to what most of us here would call "the fanbase." These aren't lifelong Rocket fans eeking out money to sit as close as possible to their favorite team....they're companies/firms entertaining clients for the most part and writing off the tickets as business expenses. The point isn't to go cheer on your team...that's a sidenote. And if the team is the talk of the town (a title the Rox haven't earned in quite some time) then the tickets are hot and the place is electric. Otherwise, it's about entertaining clients...the end. There's a disconnect between the people/organizations those tickets are marketed to and the "Rockets fans" your title is directed to...they're not the same folks.
I think Jordan saw the Rockets coming and (In my best Forest Gump voice; "I think I'll play Baseball now") retired... zzpot
