I've been a fan since Ralph Sampson hit that prayer three and stomped the evil Lakers. I was hooked at that point. I'm amazed that 5% of the fans on this thread are not Rockets fans - WTH are they doing here if they hate us so much??
there are actually a couple of good posters that like other teams here...a couple of Grizzles fans, Spurs fans..used to have some decent Nugs fans, but they couldnt stand all the Dice for scrubs threads..it drove em over the edge..
most people like teams only when they are winning. thats why half of enron field is cheering for the braves when they come and play here. thats why there are so many lakers fans. so many mavericks fans. so many yankees fans.... i dont have much respect for "fans" like these... i want to see your dale murphy jersey, your jamaal mashburn jersey, and your don mattingly jersey. then ill take you seriously.. thats why, if the rockets make the playoffs and the games sell out, itll be slightly bittersweet, because ill know not everyone in the building stayed with the rockets through thick and thin, and i, mr thick and thin, probably wont have tickets...but thats the way it works... most people are band wagoners...some people arent... maybe thats why the new poster bashing is so harsh right now..as opposed to in the past...
anyone of us that has stayed through the lotto years, the pippin year, and the injurie plagued seasons can consider themself a true fan.
Ooops I screwed up and misread the question. Move my vote from the "I'm not a rockets fan at all" to the "I've always been a rockets fan"
My fandom began when I watched Hakeem in the Phi Slamma Jamma days and when he was drafted to the Rockets as the #1 pick.
Yeah, I stayed through the Pippen year. I am not sure, though, how much longer I would have stayed had he been here for more than a year.
Been a fan since you could sit in the seats behind the goal at Hofheinz Pavilion for $1.50 each. Big E Stu Lantz Shark Rudy T Not too good of a team but you could catch them outside the Home dressing room after every game.
Doh!!! That's like the second time I've started a poll where the thread title and the poll question sort of conflict with each other. Note to self: make sure thread title and poll question do not cause confusion in any future polls. And I don't think we can manually change the votes, only the admins can, right?
I can't believe there are even that many Yao bandwagon-ers on here. I mean I would think they would like the team and watch the games, but it is a big step to go to a website like CC.net and post.
