Achebe, I've probably been around longer than you think, but I still appreiciate the fact that you'd know more about this than I do...However, I would like to ask, do you not agree that it's a lot more negative in here than it was, say, a year ago?

    You mean Egon Spengler

as Triumph the Isult Comic Dog says about HeyP "a lonely man who has never had sex, not even with a Catholic priest"

he is a bang up for risk and star wars stratego!!!

MacBeth - get with the program... if HeyP kept his ego on a short leash we would all be better for it... if not swing away he deserves it!!!

    Heypartner,

A plane ticket to meet Yao Ming? Oh, boy, I will be too excited to go to sleep tonight. Thank you so much for your kind suggestion and thank everybody else on this board who gave me a lot of friendship and encouragement. I hope I can meet you all sometime. I must mention Montgo who puts my name on his/her sig. Thank you very much.

I don't know when I will have chance to visit Houston. However, I am planning to go to see Ming when Rockets plays road games with Nets or Knicks. (I live at north New Jersey). I am not worried about his home games at all because I know there are so many fans in Houston who will support him. But the New York fans will boo him, right? I hope I am the "power fan" who cheers for Ming loudly there. (Will I be murdered when I walk out of the gym?)

    HeyP,

Looks like I will be seeing ya because they also called and asked me last week for my participation and of course I said yes. I think it is a great idea and the first thing I would like to suggest is getting rid of J Rock. :)

I really can't wait until we the season starts and my first chance of seeing Yao in person. Unfortunately I will probably be in Vegas at the time he will probably see his first action as a Rocket, but you can best believe I will be near someone TV that day.

    Congrats, HP!

Off topic, but has anyone seen Harold Ramis lately? He's let himself go. The dude's like 300 pounds now.

Oh, hey JAG, I didn't recognize you what w/ your new moniker and all. It's only directed towards heypartner and others that try to devalue our community. Everyone loves and respects everyone else in this forum. The hangout is totally politics, and when people are discussing politics you have to discount all of their opinions, b/c those guys are all ideologues. If they're not of your ideology, discount, agree if they are... it's all kind of pointless.

More importantly, we're all alternative-uids of heypartner. I'm just arguing with myself to make myself seem a likeable/flawed figure.

Achebe: Remember that the same group that will be handling the Fan Council also monitors this BBS regularly, as in every day.

I've spoken pretty extensively with them about this idea and they really do want to hit on all areas of fan support. That includes broadcasts, marketing campaigns, in-game presentation, you name it. So, I think they are going to be sensitive to everything, not just the games themselves. In fact, I think they'll probably put more emphasis on marketing (ads, stories, PR) and things away from the games than anything, but I won't know until I get there.

MacBeth: I would say that much of the negativity you sense on the board is a combination of two things:

    1. The residual effect of a really crappy season that created an atmosphere ripe for trolls and people of that nature to come in and harrass fans.

    2. The incredible growth of the board since the draft lottery.

The massive influx of new posters mixed with the negativity surrounding last year has created a pretty volatile atmosphere. I think many of us are learning how to adapt to the situation. In addition, the influx has brought in people who want to spam the board or troll on it even more heavily been before. Being bigger makes the target on the site even larger.

It is just something we are all going to have to get used to and learn to deal with. I think, ultimately, it will make this BBS a better and stronger community of fans, but we all just need to be patient.

Teeloo wasn't there. The others were some of my friends and some family members. Heydude is basically my brother in law if you must know. Still an ass though.

I thought we bash heypartner because "he is so cool and we just want to be cool too." Apparently, he is a big name here and is the incarnate of cool and likeable...even though he lost to Manny in the beauty pageant.

Seriously, though, this is a very good idea and hp will probably be good for it in some way. Jeff I am not so sure about.

    windandsea,

You are a wonderful person. Just thought I would say that (how is that for positivity JAG?).

This looks like a fun thread. Congrats HP. Now I'll sit myself in the couch and watch others tease/bash you, hah.

Man, how do I get in this group? I know it is only 20 people, but I am just about as passionate as anyone else there, I too have had dirty looks and has people tell me to sit down, which I thought what ridiculous. It is good to see that there are actully other people that make noise at the games besides me. Maybe I didnt get the call because I just got my season tickets, this is my first year. But if the opportunity came up, I would definitley hop on it. Anything I can do to help the Rockets.

Achebe: Cool...I've often gotten ivolved in the hangout debates myself, but I increasingly see what you mean about the pointlessness..Most are entrenched or don't care...

Jeff: I understand. It's a little sad, because the first thing about this site which really impressed me was the evident mutual respect everyone seemed to have for one another. I agree that growth comes with it's downside, but I will miss that atmosphere. That said, this is still the first site I check when I turn on my computer, and you and others like you are one of the main reasons.

    Rim: Good job.

    Peace,

    JAG

Kudos and congrats to HeyPee and Jeff. We couldn't have asked for better Rockets reps for a fan council.

    Cheers

Thanks, man. One thing I will say is that I don't honestly expect it to continue to deteriorate. In fact, in some ways, I've seen improvements.

windandsea is a great example of how positive new additions to the BBS can be. It has been a long time since I came in here and actively sought out a post by a new poster, but I can honestly say that, if windandsea posted it, I'll immediately click on and read it.

It will just take some time for the site to find its balance, but it will.

Isn't there compensation for the only poster from bama?!?!

Can I at least read these supposed e-mails to 20 people?

Hey, I'll drive the 2 1/2 hours to atl and get dirt on the Hawks; I'll even get a friend to write recaps for all games (he'll work for free and claims he'll be in his 6th NBA season in a decade)

If this post couldn't get even more off topic, I've done one better. I came across this site where u can write stories for any team:

    http://www.allsports.com/

Click NBA, then Rox and then you can fulfill your dream of being Clutch, only with poor, poor writing skills.

the funny thing about Jeff and whoevever else received one of these e-mails is that theyre like gods to everyone on this site, but virtually no one knows who the hell they are.

"normal people" (ie: anyone thats not a rockets fan) have no clue of their identities.

if i saw clutch or jeff in person, id get on my hands and knees and kiss their feet.

I just got an unsolicited e-mail from the University of Phoenix online asking me to participate in their Spring semester. That is almost as cool, right?

Having met HeyP a couple of times, I can honestly say there is nothing "normal" about him, except his wife, who is a very interesting and personable lady. Other than that, HP is one of a kind...thankfully. Two heypartners? shudder :D
