Feels like he was trying to avoid saying "we were getting off of Jalen's contract before he lost all his trade value". If KD is traded for a decent return I'll forgive a lot of these blatant lies, but I'm not feeling optimistic right now.
The window to tank has closed. They plan to flatten the odds starting in 2027. It was risky before - it's going to be pointless now. You might as well be a middling team like us and hope you get lucky. And I say this as someone who was very much in the pro-tank camp before.

Remember 2018? 27 straight missed shots on a team full of shooters? A good coach is a good leader who can change the mental trajectory of a team when they're floundering. A good coach is also going to have Amen in the gym every day in the offseason shooting 1,000 shots from all over the floor and Alpy 1,000 from three. These kids are still clay waiting to be molded.
