Didnt see it posted... by Ben DuBose...

Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta and CEO Tad Brown each said they respected the NBA’s decision to alter the trade value of the contract recently awarded by Houston to veteran center Nene.

“We accept it,” said Brown, who then referenced discussions with the league office over the contract. “We appreciated the opportunity to have the conversation with them. We accept it and move on.”

    Here's the passage of note:

“My basketball operations guys are very good,” Fertitta said at Friday’s Media Day. “They found a contract they thought in the past was a template. The NBA did not allow it. I respect the NBA decision. We didn’t fight them on it. We just move on.”

"...didn't fight them on it".... great...

    either:
    A) Lying like a rug...
    or
    B) Bending over and taking it w/o issue...

either way... not the response I want to see from our front office...

File under: Tilman needs to stfu...

    imo...

Have you seen what happens to organizations/owners/front office executives that cross the league office?

The Rockets don’t like it at all and don’t agree with it... but they also don’t want the league holding a grudge on future Rockets moves.

The Rockets took a calculated risk and believed their contract was within the four corners of the league rules. The Rockets knew there was a risk that the league would step in. They took a calculated risk and lost. It happens, and the league office in the NBA has a level of power not seen in any other major US sports. If Silver wants to, he can step in and basically do whatever he wants.

Silver can, and it is absolutely outrageous. The League needs reforming. There shouldn't be that much power at the top, in my opinion.

Bet the NBA would have let the Warriors, Lakers, Clippers or Bucks do this. BS they targeted the Rockets to make sure they didn't get Iggy.

Always smile at the officer as sincerely as you can, express contrition, and try to exit the traffic stop with no further escalation.

When you get home to your family or your roommate, you can say what you really think.

It was time to move on, and they did after the league decided to move first. The Lakers and Clippers gonna basically dominate media without interference from mvp discrepancies concerning Harden or inflated trade news concerning nene and rockets.

Controversy? Morey tried to stress test the system. He tried to get over. No Controversy, Just Morey being sneaky. Trash title from the writers.

fertita has quickly become like the jerry jones of the nba. It's just too bad that Harden is shaping out to be tony romo, quarterback from dallas cowboys!

Seth curry looking like Eli Manning and recently signed by mavericks!

if the warriors or lakers signed that contract it wouldn't been allowed. that's the problem with the nba.

I’m sure the Rockets made that correlation as well. At the end of the day the league office can be petty and vindictive and the GM knows that and the last thing the Rockets want is a problem to mushroom.

Probably true. LeBron James best friend was the client for Anthony Davis. LeBron James had his best friend try to force an Anthony Davis trade to the Lakers. The league did absolutely nothing even with claims of tampering by Davis’ team.

This league pushes the envelope on whether it is a competition or just entertainment. From the officials to tampering.

Rockets play small ball so the incentives in nene contract don't even line up with what Nene does. He gets maybe 5 shots per game!?

Then the rebounding incentives don't make sense for somebody over 40 years old like Nene!?

If you don't put marquee players across east and west coast media platforms and media outlets then questionable contracts wont get approved anymore.

come to find out, nene contract does not even look like it got rebounding incentives!? Gee, I figure it would since rebounding is one of the roles and responsibility of a center in the NBA.

Rockets look like fools trying to push that by the league especially since the league utilizes profit sharing and revenue sharing of the monies.

This is exactly what I do. You can argue in court, not with the officer. People seriously need to learn this. It should be taught in school. Handling a traffic stop as you described could literally save your life one day if you happen to run into a dirty cop who is already one edge looking for someone to unload on.

This isn’t a big deal to me. The way I see it, they tried to push the boundary, nba didn’t want to set that precedent with contracts and it was denied.

It was a good try; I love that Morey heads an innovative, ahead of the curve front office.

I’ll be the good try, good effort kid and applaud the attempt as we look ahead to what’s next.
