landry for david lee. trade battier for expiring and/ young talent. re-sign lee. rockets aren't an elite team yet. there are two championships between now and 2010. 2010 FA can be a bust with so many other teams with the cash to spend.
Check this http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/statistics?stat=nbafgpct&league=nba&sort=fg%&season=2009 Other that Gasol/Bynum Houston have the most efficient front court in the NBA. Yes they are not athletic but they are strong and physical. And Yao size make the opponent panic when going around the basket. With Yao in Scola is good enough for PF. Is the lack of Back up center that make Houston struggles to control the paint because Scola or Chuck are force to play as a center. Shaq and Amare are big. But Shaq is worst that Yao on P&R and Amare is a complete non factor on the defensive end. Bynum and Gasol are big but soft. BigZ, Varejao and Wallace are as unathletic or worst than Houston front court. etc. Houston Starting front court are elite on the NBA, the backups not as much.
First time for everything I guess (disagreeing with you). You consider the guy who normally leads a attempted fast break and sometimes is down the court before the defenders nonathletic just based on not dunking. God I hate this judgment. 2 points is 2 points. I can almost guarantee they go to the line more often because of the lay ups. If they went any stronger (both of them) the refs wouldnt call fouls. Why? Because they have a hard time seeing him get bumped around as it is that if he went any harder he would probably get a offensive foul. Sexy, I am sorry to say but Scola is more of a finesse player and seeing him duck and weave in between players then finally go under and to the rim is just freaking awesome. 2 points is points. Blocks? Yeah Landry does have more blocks but Scola is still a better 1 on 1 defender. If you really think about it, Landry has more blocks off of player he isnt guarding. Help defense or just coming from behind or whatever else there is.
Only 1 point guard in the top 125 (Russell Westbrook #48) Here's how Von Wafer ranks in with others Code: 112 Michael Beasley PF MIA 13 113 Caron Butler SF WAS 13 114 Danny Granger SF IND 13 115 Kosta Koufos C UTA 13 116 Etan Thomas C WAS 13 117 Ronny Turiaf PF GS 13 118 Wilson Chandler SF NY 12 119 Al Harrington PF NY 12 120 Udonis Haslem PF MIA 12 121 Roy Hibbert C IND 12 122 Corey Maggette SF GS 12 123 Kevin Martin SG SAC 12 124 Dominic McGuire PF WAS 12 125 Luc Richard Mbah a Moute SF MIL 12 126 Von Wafer SG HOU 12 127 Kwame Brown C DET 11 1 less dunk than Caron Butler & Michael Beasley. Compare that with Luther Head... Scola is not a speed merchant & definitely earthbound. But he's one of the better transition forwards in the league, top third. Doesnt matter him scooping in layups if he's out in front of the defense.
Scola was critical in the Denver game. Looked like Denver was ready to blow us out when the score got to 83-75 but Luis scored 3 consecutive baskets with a reverse layup, drive down the middle snaking through the Denver defenders in the paint for a layup and a midrange jump shot just past the FT line to get the Rox within 2. Scola is awesome even if he does need a running start to dunk a shot.
Tmac had 1 dunk early in the season and it was an alley-oop from Rafer that was wide-open. Brent had a dunk on a fastbreak one game, dont remember which one it was...
when rafer penetrates he never dishes it to yao... oh im going to take this little floater.. it seems like rafer never makes that little floater..
