We'll see the final $ numbers soon enough. For now, I think it pays for Goran to be patient and stay at his $10M demand. The teams losing out on the Deron/Nash sweeps are going to have the $ to sign somebody and a need for a PG. They might not have offered him $10M year, but they might do it very soon.

No one could predicted his increase in production and value. Hindsight is always 20-20, but none of us really cared about Dragic too much a year ago.
It is, but we fans do not see him in practice day in and day out, and it is the guys who do see that to be able to guage how good he is going to be, this is just like Lin another failure on the orgs part to recognize top tiered talent when it was right under their noses. DD
Im not trying to reflect on it. Its just something to think about because people are wondering why they're not paying goran or why Lowry was treated a certain way. They were expecting to trade lowry, it hasn't happened, and probably won't.
Goran still needs to prove his effectiveness over a seasons worth work...something that he has not done...Gogi deserves to be the starter but salary reach by him and his agent is a lil out there... Gogi should look to getting a 3 year deal..and then he will be able to get a max deal afterwards...he...atleast to many teams is still unproven for consistent play
Pretty contradictory to say a player wants all the $$$ he can get and wants a guaranteed starting job, then completely 100% ignore what you just said by saying he would have signed a cheap, long-term RFA contract last year while Lowry was the clear starting PG. That's not logic. That creating two completely contradictory universes explain anything away that you need to.

My thinking is that Dragic doesn't want to associate himself w/ the Rockets anyway after seeing how Morey screwed the plan and how uncertain Lowry's future on the team and some other players are. So, one way for him to abandon the ship is to up his contract offering so that the Rockets can't match it. But he won't hesitate to sign with someone like the Mavs for $8mil/yr.
It is not contradictory at all, his status has changed significantly, he was purely a backup at that point, so his mindset might have been different, in that you could offer him security and a chance to compete, he might have taken that. Not many players take the Qualifying offer, most go for security. DD
Some guys just need the chance to shine in games. Lin would have been cut from NY a week later if he hadn't gotten some playing time due to an injury.
You are 100% right and it is a fault of the unbalanced rosters that we consistently have that talent falls through the cracks unoticed. DD

Wanted to be a starter The answer is clear...if we would have locked up Dragic to a cheap, long-term RFA contract in Deci 2011, then that means Dragic undervalued his own self. Lowry was the clear starter in Dec 2011, so he would have signed to be a backup. And #1 would clearly be nowhere near $10. So, one can't say Morey screwed by not get a cheap contract last year without also saying the it means Dragic undervalued himself, too.
I would rep you if I could. I have said this before as well. The front office is the one best positioned to evaluate their own players, not the fans and other teams' GMs. If the FO cannot recognize talent that is worthy of a long term contract, then it is on them. I always liked Dragic, even when he was playing for the Suns, especially in that one playoff against the Spurs. That was magic. In this case, there was failure by two front offices: us and the Suns.
He's young. He's good. He likes Houston. He get's along well with the coach. He want's to get paid market value. We don't need him.
Look guys Who ever plays next season I am sure everyone, or most of us, will be happy about that PG position. The difference between these three isn't huge and having two of three on the team will probably be the best two PG combo in the league.
