I think it depends if we traded lowry yet. he wants to be a starter why sign when lowry is on our team still.
there is a lot more data because Dragic was given the chance to play starter because of the injury to Lowry Asik has an all-star type big man in Noah in front of him in Chicago Asik started 2 games this past season: 36mpg, 5ppg, 10.5 rebounds pg (7 def, 3.5 off), 2 blocks, 2.5 steals. 1.5 assists, 1.5 TOs, 40% FG not exactly eye popping offensively but if you told me that you'd get 10.5 boards and 2 blocks and lets say just 1 steal pg from your starting center I'd be more than happy with that given the offensive firepower of the other players we have at the other positions - and the easiest thing to replace is scoring in the nba
Lol well it could be worse. We could be like phoenix and have given up a first rounder and gotten back someone who didn't do a damn thing for you only to end up over-paying to get the guy you originally had back.
If its 8-9 a year I don't see the big deal. Asik's average is 8 mil a yr on the 3yr deal. Dragic would be crazy to play elsewhere when he's played his best ball here on THIS team, under McHale. Why mess with a good thing unless it's Muray that's not willing to pay him...
Dragic isn't 7ft tall, so therefore comparing his salary to a center isn't really valid. Kwame Brown made 7m last year just to give you an understanding on how size gets paid.
I don't think Dragic signs on the bottom line with Houston until Houston has an affirmative with another team that Lowry is going somewhere. The $10M is Dragic smokescreen to make it LOOK like he's playing the market game, but he's coming back. We all know this (on the board anyway). As soon as Lowry is officially signed/traded elsewhere, Dragic and his rep will keep the fires burning that they are looking elsewhere. -TheLoveDragon- ^^ I dunno, just made that up =]
Isn't Kendall Marshall supposed to be the Suns PG of the future? How does that work? Dragon is still 26.
A Lowry return does not favor us considering all the trade rumors and the fact that he is disgruntled with McHale as coach and I don't blame him. Dragic knows this too and is playing a game to milk the Rox for as much as he can.
did i miss something? sounds like the Suns have offered Gogi pretty much the same $ as we have. I doubt Morey lets half a mil stand in the way of retaining him.
I think if they did manage to keep Dragic and Lowryand Dragic did sign a larger contract that would make lowry even more upset. I agree that one doesn't happen without the other.
I believe the only "source" to report what the Rockets offered to Dragic was Hoopsworld, which basically means we don't know anything about the Houston offer.
As long as Dragic doesn't verbally agree before July 11, I'll continue to think we are in good shape. If we're able to trade for Dwight (or another star) using Lowry, Morey will poney up the 8-9M to keep Dragic. If we aren't able to trade for a star using Lowry we'll have to let Dragic walk because they are basically equal players and Lowry costs less.
I guess I missed the memo about Lottery seasons now being call "a good thing". No he won't. Morey doesn't overpay for PGs.
Agree YoYo, but don't you think we would get better production for a lot less $$$ out of Camby - over the next 3 years? I just think Asik is a desperate reach. DD
