I agree. The difference between Hayes and Landry could be their experience. Hayes will play his ahother season so he knows what it takes and Landry could be a bit scared about this leauge and it won't be a suprise for me. Anyway I really belive that Landry's gonna be a great forward who really can help us (maybe not next year)
I completely agree with you. Hayes definitely does have the experience and he's played pretty well for the Rockets but I just think Landrys gonna be better.
Yes he's gonna be better, I'm sure. Hayes cannot create a shot for himself but I think Landry can. But we have to be forgivin' for him cause in the 1st year everything is new=tough
Well, there's quite a dilemma presented on who to get rid of if we end up keeping Rafer when the season starts because these are the guys that will be on the team most likely: Yao/Mutombo/Butler Scola/Hayes/Landry Battier Tmac/Bonzi/Head Francis/James/Brooks That's 13. We still have: Novak Snyder Rafer Harris Since Harris has the least guaranteed, he's easier to get rid of....but he did well in summer league. If we keep Rafer that means either Novak or Snyder has to go. I would still like to see what Novak and Snyder can do under Adelman. If Snyder doesn't show a major improvement, then we should ship him out before 2008 when he'll make 3 million or so. If he won't even make the active roster, then that's too much to pay. We can spend that money better elsewhere on maybe a 2008 free agent or keeping one of our own free agents if and when they opt out. When Morey said that Butler wouldn't play, I don't know if he meant that because of Mutombo or that he wasn't in the future plans...but I'd think that they'd want to see what he can do. As far as Landry, I think they have a lot invested in him already in terms of spending a million and using an early 2nd rounder on him....so, he'll get a chance. I wish we could swap a 3 for one to get a power forward and get rid of some of these excess players that won't get playing time.
He probably means because this year Yao and Mutombo barring injury would man the C spot. Of course based on last two years with Yao
Landry could still be cut for relatively little, I think the Rockets just figured they will give him a chance to make the team rather than leave really bad blood between agents/future draftees by screwing around any more. I don't think we fathumed adding Scola and Butler and Francis, and that just totally changed the complextion of the team--both in terms of roster space and bigs depth, post draft. I would have preferred just to try to trade Landy for a future 2nd because I don't think he will contribute this year, less of a chance than Reed and Harris. Harris looked better than him in the summer leagues, and at least Reed played some in NBA and convinced someone to sign him. BTW we can't just stash Landry in the NDBL. One way or the other to keep his rights he has to take up one of the 15 spots. Let Harris, Reed, Landry and Novak fight it out for the tail end of those spots or spot, I wouldn't say any are completely safe, though Harris is the longest shot for the roster.
Take a listen to Rafer's interview. If not the whole thing, just the first 2:15. That should set the record straight for you clear as clear can be. Rafer is NOT in the Rockets' plans.
I'm not averse to Snyder but if, Heaven forbid, an injury were to fell our swell fella then O would be needed to compensate for the loss and Bonzi's and mj and/or SF would likely be in line for greater minutes. Of course, for KS's expiring contract to have 'max' value he will need to showcase well on the court
You know honestly I didn't get that translation at all from the audio. Seems like a lot of wishful thinking coming from your part. Feel free to go into detail on why you think Rafer thinks he's a goner.
I officially give up. Just in case there is a misunderstanding, I meant the audio on Clutch's homepage, not whatever Rafer said on AM610.
Everybody needs to listen to Landry's interview and tell me how you wouldn't want a guy like that on your team.
