He's a 3rd string SF or 3rd string PF what exactly does he have to do anyway to fill his job in that role? Come on.

It's no surprise to me. Of course Rockets want to sign him otherwise why bother to buy the first pick in second round(which is more valuable than 29th or 30th pick in first round) to pick a guy they never want to sign? Had the roster trimming trade been made, Landry would be signed long time ago.

With this signing, we can say that our frontcourt is already set.. C = Yao,Mutombo,Butler... PF =Scola,Hayes,Landry........Now, if we could only shed our excess guards and unusable players next...With the free agents left, I'm really intrigued by Pavlovic and Pitreus...they are big 2 guards who can score and defend...well that's just an idea.. ;)

I think if we cut him now, after we singed him, he is a free agent. If we wanted to see about him in the trainning camp, Morey wouldnt have signed him because we could have him wait one more year to join us but still have his NBA rights.

We have to get of Reed. There's no room for him and guys like Lucas, Snyder and Rafer.

Pavlovic is alright, but you're right about Pietrus. I'd love to see him on the Rockets.

    This is interesting...and kinda pathetic...
Rox gave up few millions for Landry so don't expect him to be released alredy, decent player dough kinda Hayes only with shooting range...
Alston will stay,he has value but his problems lately earned him a spot on our team, and that's not bad if someone gets injuried or hammered Rafer gets in plays 10 minutes and OK.
Alston is bad 45 minutes player but 10 minutes pg is super...

Well I cannot agree that there is no space for Snyder in our team. We need more athleticism and Snyder is able to give us that. We now he isn't a shooter but we need his power, his penetration, dunks. I like his game and hopefully Adelman will give him more credit than JVG did.

I agree that we should release Reed and Lucas. They won't help us, ther're just to weak. With all these additions I'm sure they won't play and that's obviously not good for them cause everybody wants to play...

What about singin' Carl Landry. I like his game and I think he can brings a lot of good things to Houston. Of course I'm not thinkin' he's gonna be our best player but he can get some rebounds, blocks and points off the bench if Adelman will use him.

Remember Luther Head was drafted with #24 overall pick. First I didn't think he could really help us, but he's been our top guy off the bench. That's why I'm pinnin' my hopes in Landry.

Please lets' stop cutting people before preseason starts. If Reed shines give him a shot, If Harris shines give him a shot. This is what practice and the games are for, to see which scrub has the most potential to be in a suit or end of the bench. :)

    off topic, ROSTER:
We have Pietrus-lite in Snyder, and cheaper. Though Snyder, again, needs to show consistent contributions soon.

I'm surprised they picked up the 4th year option on Luther Head earlier..it shows commitment to him rather than potentially dealing him. Or maybe they do have at least a little long-term strategy, and that there's questions of the short-term James and Francis pickups.

Wouldnt be too sad if they dealt Novak, though he does add a (unproven) shooting ingredient to the team (one that Battier already does fairly competently). Nor would I be too sad if Head or Snyder were moved. It depends on how veteran knuckleheads James and Francis work out. Bonzi who cares, NO expectation of him at ALL.

    on topic, LANDRY:
He played in the summer league how coaches and front office would describe as he "played well". Meaning it was a what you'd expect performance, contributed maybe not impactfully but positively, not great but not poor either, wasnt a star but didnt suck, could do better could do worse, etc. But this team needs some athleticism and players period at the frontcourt positions, which I thought was why they got him. On principle of how they aquired him and why, I'd agree with his agent and that they should at least follow through fairly.

He probably won't be able to shine cause I'm not sure if Adelman gives him minutes. (if he stays of course)

No, it's just reasonable from a business perspective, as Head's value is higher than the money he is owed for the 4th year.

Yes that's truth. Even Luther's agent said that Luther earns too little money. That was a chance.

Hilarious how people think Snyder can't play, the guy was in JVG's rotation, and that's saying something cuz JVG didn't play a whole lot of people, he got hurt than went out of the rotation. As for Landry, maybe someone can educate me on this provided you are 100% sure of the answer. Can Landry be sent down to the D-League and not count against the 15 man roster?

I see Sura obviously being bought out, and than Reed and Harris being released outright. That would include Rafer on the 15 man roster cuz there's no way I can see the rockets buying out Rafer, he's got 3 years left on the contract, I just think that's a situation that might linger on all year long.

Snyder will make 3 million in 2008....that's a lot of money to pay a guy who might not even be on the active list. If he made less, I wouldn't mind him on the bench, but it's primarily his bloated contract that makes him a must move. Snyder has to start making some major strides.....it's taking too long for him to develop. The guys I want to see moved first are:

    Reed
    Lucas
    Rafer

I want to see how Novak does in preseason and some games before we make a decision on him. I would have kept Rafer, but I'm afraid that he might be a problem in the lockerroom if he ends up not playing in the game. Also, it seems like Adelman sees Head at least as having something to offer the Rockets as he talked about how there was more to his game. It just seems like the guys that Adelman and Morey talk about are the ones that are in their plans for the future..... the guys that they are compleetely silent on all end up being shipped out or on their way out.

Buddy, I cannot agree with you...

Belive me, Snyder will be in our rotation cause he can give us a lot of good moves to the basket, dunks and a good power on the team. 3 millions that's a lot but I think he'll be effective, especially under Adelman. He is very strong and I remember his last season. When he's in attackin' mode he could bring a lof of problems for our opponent's defense. I only don't like when he's shootin' the ball from the outside, but generally it's good to have that type of player on your roster.

Rafer alston will stay cause we don't trade him for a better player for us. I still think he sucked last season but I know he's able to run the offense well, and probably Adelman will tell him what he wants from him. If Rafer doesn't do that he won't play...everything depends on Rafer. So if he doesn't play that will be only his fault, only....

I would like Novak to play but it looks like he isn't ready yet. I thought he would have played better in SUmmer Leauge but we all know how it ended. He's got unbelivable range, but that's the end. He's too weak and it won't be suprisin' for me if he won't play.

Rockets spent 1 million to get the draft pick from supersonics. So I guess it doesn't matter if they don't sign him.
