I still think its a SF/SG or a SF/PF type. As for your sig. how do you propose the Rockets get the 30th pick - seeing as they will not likely finish with the best record in the league as for Bogut - that guy is the real deal - the Hawks won't take him (since he won't put fans in the seats) but he will be top 3... no way he falls to Houston
Forgot the NBA doesn't do the draft like the NFL..... oh well I won't bother changing it. Granger fits the SF/PF mold perfectly. He's a tenacious rebounder, a great weakside shot blocker and has range out to the three point line.
I really like Granger, too, but he just jumped from the second round to a lotto pick in a week. Another guy I like who wasn't mentioned previously is Antoine Wright from A&M. He's an aggressive 2/3 with a nice shooting touch and impressive speed to drive by defenders with ease. Look for us to take the best available at the time we select. Turiaf is a nice player, but don't know how good he'll be at the next level. Just seems that he put up good numbers because he was the biggest player on the court in most games. Not always his fault, but the WCC front court players are few and far between compared to the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC. I'd look for us to select a combo 1/2 type player in the second round i.e. Darren Brooks-Southern Illinois, Luther Head-Illinois, Keith Langford-Kansas, S. Stoudimire-Arizona, or Larry O'Bannon-Louisville. Wouldn't be suprised to go euro here, too. Also, wouldn't be suprised if we go for a backup 5 with the second rounder i.e. Luke Schenscher-Ga. Tech, Dwayne Jones- St. Joseph, Tang Zhendong-China.
how many picks do we have going into the draft? i know we got our 1st rounder pick, NY second rounder(which will be like top10), and our 2nd rounder. we should look for the best player available in 1st round( position should not matter) and use the 2nd round picks to get some international players to back up mcgrady.
Really liked Granger in the Utah/New Mexico game a week or two ago. But it appears everyone found out about him also. I suspect a lot of NBA scouts knew earlier. I doubt if he will fall out of the top ten.
if you like granger then you won't mind if we draft ryan gomes. afterall granger will be gone when we pick but gomes (a poor mans granger) will be around.
The perfect PF would be somebody like Badiane... tall, athletic, agressive, defensive, rebounder. I hope he can reach his potential. There aren't many like that in this draft, most of the projected PF's in the draft are wide bodied and short. We don't need that. The closest thing to what I described is Warwick and he is a little light to play NBA PF. I think Diogu will be a player he has a lot of attitude and hustle kinda reminds me of Amare Stoudamire the next best PF should be Turiaf, he is big enough to play NBA PF and has good skills. After that it really falls of into the guys that are too small to play in the NBA at PF like Simien and Taft. I don't think this is a good draft to go looking for PF tallent and we should look at athletic wing players if we can't get Warwick or Diogu. Warwick is a little bit of a gamble as well cause he is a PF-SF tweener.
I doubt it ... he's a Euro (well... and quasi-Euro) his fundamentals alone will make him better than Bowie or Kandi ... I think he will be a nice player in the league and I am glad to see another real back to the basket big man coming in (he should play Center in the NBA). With I was afraid that Yao, Shaq, Z, and Miller were the only centers left in the world
theres a senior at Kansas St. by the name of Jeremiah Massey, this could could go probably around the middle of the 1st round to early second, good shooter and a banger, i think he would be a great fit for the rockets coming off the bench as a 4.
Oh shove it already! ------------------- No he won't. He will be a perenial all star center in the NBA. ------------------- Marvin is not a PF. God forbid - no Taft. He is about the most overrated PF in college ball with his god aweful work ethic. No thanks. ------------------- For what it is worth, I like the best available player route. But I see CD and JVG shooting for a PF especially with the potential of the draft being very deep with PFs. I would not mind a rare gem like Rudy Gay (if he comes out) or serviceable and versatile Danny Granger if they drop down. A skilled foreign power forward will be nice so long as his name is not Tiago Splitter. In all, I yield it all to CD and JVG because I truely believe they will make great choices in this year's draft. Travis Diener (aka the next John Stockton.....at least I have seen him play twice) could be had in the secound round. I dare to say that we will land two (2) quality players in this draft that will be key members of our championship contenting team in the immediate future. PS. Summer league (assuming there is no work stoppage) will be interesting as our rookies along with Spanoulis and Malick will be in action for closer assessment. Here is looking forward to DoD's breakdown if he gets to go.
Ryan Gomes is 6'7"- 245, about the size of Ron Artest IIRC. His offense looks pretty good, but I think both Granger and Gomes played PF in college although both will be SF in the NBA. If he doesn't have the 'D' or the quickness to play SF, then JVG won't touch either of them.
agree with you, in the low 20s area you go with best available and i would like to see them get a defensive swing man.
Comparing Bogut to Kandi and Bowie and Kandi is like comparing Yao to Bradley and Muresan. Kandi and Bowie were just 2 big stiffs that had no fire and were huge projects. Bogut is already much more skilled then them and has a much better work ethic. Big men like Bowie, Kandi, and Bradley are just tall guys pushed into basketball because of their size. Bogut is a natural born basketball player.
This draft is not particularly deep at the PF position; however, it is deep at the PG spot. I agree that at 22 you've got to take the best player on the board, but there should be a top-flight PG left on the board by the time we pick. Guys like Felton are falling out of the top 10. There's definately a nice PG left at 22. Also, I like Hodge. Julius Hodge is 6'7", and I actually think he could play PG at the next level. He's got speed, ball control, great court vision, and excellent passing skills. He was going in the middle of the 2nd round, but now I think he'll crack the 20's (NC State is having a nice tourney). Oh yea, I like tall point guards. Look at the guy's assist numbers this year. Almost 5 a game I think (correct me if I'm wrong).
