Fortson is a great rebounder. It's not the amout of rebouds he get's, it's the degree of difficulty his rebounds are. It's like, "How did he get that rebound?" type rebound. He's not that tall either.
You're right on this one. The Rockets should be in the playoffs. But they are not going to be in the playoffs. If we won maybe half the games against the crappy teams, we might have been like 5th place now. Instead, we are going to be out of the playoffs.
fortson is not a particular great rebounder because many of his rebounds are coming from his own misses. every time he gets an offensive rebound, he immediately puts it up. he often misses it but get it back and the cycle starts again. that's why he was one of top offensive rebounder in the league last year. in addition, he is like kurt thomas. they want to belong offensive players and take many outside shots. even though he's not a great player, he's a lot better than what the rockets has right now.
Good point, I'd give you 3 points if I were the host of Around The Horn and you were a columnist. Tonight is a sign that Yao needs to hit the weight room, and that the Rockets need better post entry passers. The heat were fronting Yao all-night, and the Rockets' 3 and their guards do not know how to give Yao ball even though he was fronted. There was one play in the second half where Francis tried to pass the ball to Yao in the post with the Rockets down 7, and it went out of bounds, and Francis was just disgusted with himself. The guy is not that good a post entry passer. I think the Rockets are doing a better job feeding yao the ball more often, and this approach is affecting one Rocket's game, Cuttino Mobley. He is one of the worst passers I have ever seen and he is becoming a worse fit for this team. His point production has gone down. One thing I have noticed is that when Mobley gets a wide open perimeter shot as a result of good ball movement, he misses it a lot. He is so used to isolating and pulling up for jumpers instead of shooting off a pass.
DavidS. Why can't they get it? They have the ability to win...and sometimes win greatly and triumphantly. They play well against good teams...at home. They win a few. Then they start losing...first one...then second one...then third one. AND THEN FINALLY...THEY GET IT. And they feel they have to win...and have a really good game. BUT THEN...they feel all great and happy and think they are the best. And they have an easy game against a "bad" team AND LOSE. They seem relaxed and underestimate them. Man...DavidS, aren't you frustrated when you watch the Rockets?
He's has a good technique on rebounding. Not great. I shouldn't have used the word "great." But, he's a 10/10 guy. But it's the "way" he rebounds. It's hard to explain. He has a good box-out technique. He's a wide body like Chuck. And, as you mentioned, he knows how to get offensive rebounds from other players missing, not just his own. I love the way he works. By the way, he's been injured.
Put it this way. I really think the Rockets are hooked on offense like a drug. Thus, after a win they think they are "basketball gods" and can't wait to get out their and "show their stuff." Then, they are shocked to learn that bad teams come out and start playing hard-nosed defense on them, and their offense starts to suffer. See? And then, by the time they figure they have to play some D, it's too late. They spend most of the game playing catchup. There are time during the game where Posey, or Mobley or Francis will start to get into a fight with an opponent and I get excited! I'm like, "HELL YEAH! SHOW SOME BALLS! DON'T BACK DOWN!" But, then since they start playing like that in the 3rd or 4th, it's usually too late to show heart. They need to show "heart" for 48 minutes. Not just two quarters.
. That doesn't seem possible. There aren't many games left. Steve Francis is gonna be a "veteran". He's not acting like one. His turnovers are down though... It's like what we did to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. The Rockets just couldn't handle it. I give up. See all of you next season!
As sad as it is now with our beloved team, maybe....just maybe missing the playoff is what we need to move forward. The sad but not sad part is that Phoenix is probably not good enough to coast home to the playoffs. I will be fine with us missing the playoffs but I am afraid Les may not be willing to shake things up. Why would anyone want to pay to see this crap? This problem did not start now - it is just that "myopia" got better of a lot of folks here. I wish the season could end soonest because I don't think I can take this up and down affair. Oh well what can we do? Just sit and watch as optimistic as possible.
Okay, for the sake of my bloody sanity, it is not "the playoff". It is the playoffs! PLURAL! PLAYOFFS, with a bloody "s". The NBA postseason is never referred to as "the playoff".
I totally agree that the Rockets don't deserve to make the playoffs because this losing to non-playoffs teams is just embarassing. The Rockets might never win 5 straight games and they have to go on some kind of win streak. We're terrible on the road and we have just recently lost 2 games at home. A few games back I have committed myself not to get excited over any Rockets game. If they win ........fine.........if they lose........then they lose. I feel if the Rockets aint worrying ........why should I?
I agree...I think this team will miss the playoffs and Les will be forced to do something... The problem is, who's available, so college hack... I would rather them bow out in the first round that not to make it at all, however, they need to realign to the EAST, because it's over...
