Impressive Defense..? we allowed nearly 106.5 a game last year, so I guess that pretty impressive..!

That is the danger we are facing this season. Battier has lost a step so his defense won't be as good as it was in previous seasons. It is one of the reasons I was so shocked at the Ariza trade.

We are entering new territory and the traditional defense from this team will never be the same.

I disagree. I think Shane is still a good defender. Wasn't CBud on Butler when he was scoring in bunches? I just think on the last play Shane expected CLee to make the right play and he didn't. CLee needs a lot of help on his mental game. Maybe that's why we are his 3rd team already.

I don't have much trust now in Elston Turner as our defensive coach. He has to redeem himself quick.

I find Courtney Lee to be a more impressive defender than Battier and almost as good a scorer as Budinger. Maybe he should be our starting Sf? Sure he had abrain fart but he was the only guy getting steals and playing defense over these last few games besides Chuck Hayes and Jared Jeffries.

Shane is a teamwork defensive player while Clee is more likely to be a 1on1 defensive player just like Ariza.

Not saying Battier isn't a good defender, he just no longer is the best in the NBA and he won't be able to contain guys like he used to. Which means, other guys will have to step up defensively. Haven't seen enough of Lee to know if he will make major difference but I can tell you, like the Houston Texans, the Rockets are going to be known more for the offense then their defensive prowess.

Our defense will not be great with Adelman. It might be adequate, which is why this team needs a lot more firepower to be competitive against elite teams.

If you took this team with say JVG it would have a fighting chance because he could turn this group into a solid defense team (even with Brooks and Martin). But without a team defense philosophy, we are going to get ripped apart on the perimeter as teams get open shots and drive and dish for easy scores.

I wish we could get both... Why can't we have a head coach, offensive coach and defensive coach. Who says the football teams have it wrong!! ;)

    Then Jeff could come back.

In that case I would want Phil Jackson as head coach. Mike D'Antoni as offensive coach and Coach Thibbs as defensive coach.

Les won't pay Jeff enough. I'd bet Jeff is making some big money (for very little work) with ESPN since he's their #1 color analyst.

erm... we do- elston turner is defensive coach, no?

This is much ado about nothing. We have plenty of firepower, and so far our defense has been good as well. You can't take 57 seconds of bad defense as the sky falling.

Adelman has had elite defensive teams in the past. You realize there is a trade-off I hope. You don't just make a team without good defenders into a good defensive team without giving up something on offense.
