What I'm saying is I don't see this as a plausible option. This is not a very good offer in my mind, and it's hard to think of one not involving Parsons.
Harden just said team doesn't need big move. Translation: "I'm not trying to share that rock with Melo every game. Nope!"
Here we go............. 6-4-14 Harden was asked Wednesday if he thought the Rockets needed to make a major addition or rather try to cultivate what they already have. "I think we have a lot already, a couple of smaller moves would be good for us," Harden said. "I don't know if necessarily the big move would help us out a lot, we have a lot of good things in our locker room, a lot of young guys that want to get better and want to work. Maybe a couple of small moves and we'll be right here we want to be."
Yall think Melo and Harden can co-exist. That's ISO made for heaven, but not going to win us any championship. What's the point then?
Well Landry just missed pretty much the whole season with a knee injury, so there might have been something there.
Seriously what would you expect him to say? "Yeah we need serious changes. Let's bring in some legitimate talent and dump the overpaid like Lin and the pissy malcontents like Asik and Moti."
I completely agree with him. Melo sets the Rockets back even further with their most pressing need: Perimeter D. I'd free up cap space on draft night with Asik, Lin. Kyle Lowry would be my #1 target. Then match the Parsons offer sheet. Use the MLE to replace the lost Asik production with Hawes and use the BAE on another perimeter D specialist like PJ Tucker
Parsons will be resigned and I don't think we will be going after a 3rd star. A guy like Lowry would be perfect for us. Melo/Love Harden Howard Paraons Not enough ball to go around
"Please don't trade me for Love! I don't want to play in Minnesota! It's too cold and the strip clubs are subpar!"
I was referring to his statement where he said: "It's also hard to imagine us trading for a 3rd star and not including Parsons in the deal."
Uhh...maybe they know because he missed several games last year due to his back and played in pain from his back in others. We all knew that so don't you think that other NBA teams know it too?
You know that Parson's doesn't have to sign another team's offer sheet, right? If Parsons wants to stay here and we are willing to pay him then he just signs a deal with Houston and he doesn't even have to negotiate with another team if he doesn't want to. No need for a wink, wink deal. I know there was some confusion earlier in this thread thinking that we either had to match another team's offer or he had to play for the qualifying offer but that was incorrect. The qualifying offer just gives us right of first refusal. The Rockets can offer him anything they want up to the max. Once we make him a restricted free agent we are a bidder just like any other team except we get the chance to match any offer he would sign.
I think the LeBron/Wade pairing proved that could work. I don't think Melo needs the ball in his hands to be able to play his game...he's a terrific spot up shooter - teams would have trouble with double teaming us, just a matter of how we responded to that pressure.
