The thing about Melo is he actually tries on defense.. And given the opportunity Melo as a 3/4 combo > Harden will ever be.

This reminds me of the Luis Scola restricted free agency. We made it clear that we would match anything, and thus he did not get any crazy offers.

also reminds me of Dolan and the Knicks saying they'll match any offer made to Jeremy Lin up to a billion dollars... and we all saw how that played out.

Why anyone would think anything beyond what this says is baffling. I honestly wouldn't even be shocked if Morey already has an agreement with Hinkie in Philly and Fegan/ Parsons to offer him a deal they can match that they have already agreed on after the Rockets do what they need to do to get that 3rd star player on July 1st.

Of course, Parsons and Fegan can screw over the Rockets here (by signing an offer sheet before the Rockets can sign another player namely), but there is no indication that there is bad blood between Parsons and Morey, and did we just recently forget that PARSONS GOT HOWARD TO THE ROCKETS?? Obviously Chandler wants to be on a super team that can compete for titles. Why in the world he wouldn't want to get paid a year early, and still start (yes he would start.... Melo is a PF in the Rockets offense) is beyond comprehension.

Some of you guys are really stretching here to try and create drama. There is no indication that the above mentioned post isn't the case here.

They fully intended to if not for the extreme "poison pill" nature of the contract. That's not possible in this case.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and restate what I just said earlier-

I wouldn't be shocked at all if that offer sheet came to Parsons from Hinkie & the Sixers. I'm pretty certain that Parsons & Fegan already know they have a contract figure in the bag they can count on.

If someone like Dallas wants to offer Chandler a max contract I'm sure Fegan/Parsons will listen, but I dont see that coming as anything more than a threat (out of spite) to Morey/Les.

The only team that has any motivation to overpay for Chandler Parsons is the Houston Rockets (after assuming they brought in another stud player before). No team in the league will pay him to be their franchise player.

The order in which I'd like to see vs odds of actually getting.

    1) Lebron - 1%
    2) Love (trade) - 10%
    3) Camelo - 80%
    4) Bosh - 10%
    5) Lowry - 20%
    6) Dirk - 0%

i think that parsons has a agreement in principle with morey to sign a contact once we're able to dump asik and lin and then sign our max contract free agent (likely will be carmelo) and its just like most people said there is no bad blood between the rockets organization and parsons he loves it here so he'll still get his money just has to wait until we create room for 3rd superstar then we''ll sign parsons sounds easier said than dont but i trust morey

I have another take on this in opposition to the "Rockets are screwed if we sign Parsons and don't land [insert big name 2014 FA here]" theory.

If they can extend Chandler and keep his salary relatively modest (say $6-10 mil per, obviously depending on who throws an offer sheet at him), he's locked in at a good salary for a few years. In other words, he would still be a very coveted asset in trade talks.

So, if we can't clear Lin and Asik's salaries and then sign Melo (or Lowry, Deng, etc) this summer, we still have a very viable option of trading for a 3rd star at the deadline or (more likely) Summer of 2015 using Chandler as the primary bait. I don't think this is Morey's preferred route -- he'd like to hit the homerun (Melo, Love, Lowry, Deng) this summer and keep Chandler, I would bet.

But all is not lost if we miss out this summer. As long as nobody throws $12 mil at Chandler, we'll have him on a very desirable salary to trade along with a combination of draft picks, whoever we take at #25 this year, Lin's expiring, and T.Jones -- all to make a run at the next big name that pops up in trade talks.

    In summary:

Plan A: Trade Lin, Asik for picks and/or cap relief. Sign Melo, Lowry, Deng using cap room. Match any offers for Parsons. You get to keep Chandler and sign at the very least a 3rd tier star to play with DH, JH, and CP.

Plan B: Keep Asik and Lin due to no takers. Match Parsons. Trade combination of Parsons, Asik/Lin expirings, #25 pick player, future 1st rd picks, T.Jones for 3rd star (perhaps an impending 2016 free agent on a team that is looking to get a return on their star player).

And I guess Plan C would be to keep CP long term and hope that you can fill the team with quality role players using draft picks and the MLE and still contend that way.

LOL at Dallas fans and their media thinking that they are getting Dirk back at 9Mil a year.

And yes, almost everyone up here in Dallas thinks Dirk is coming back to them on a loyalty discount of 9 mil a year at the most.

    Yeah that aint happening folks.

J.C. Almighty, I wish you dudes with the "2015 offseason" talk would just let it go.

You want to waste another year of Dwight Howard in his not-quite prime?

Dwight came here to fart around for two seasons?

As much as I like Parsons, he is vastly over-rated amongst Rockets fans and has too big off a head. He feeds off Dwight and Harden and it gets to him at times like calling himself 100% the best SF in that series.

That absolutely rubbed me the wrong way. You don't make such comments until the series is over and you win or if you do make them better back it uprather than having egg all over your face.

Because our front office seems to have gone backwards since Dwight, Hinkie was here for everything but the finish line with Dwight, everything since has been somewhere between average and Kahn (The whole Asik auction).

??? Parsons will get a MINIMUM of 12-13 per year from another team, take for granted. Could be possible even a MAX. There will be desperated teams in need of taking something after elite players are gone.
