So Cyberx, does the Rockets brass have enough faith in TJones to replace Parsons in the starting lineup rather than him? If we get Melo, what happens to our #1 problem according to D-Morey, the power forward spot?

He is restricted though, so any offer he receives from other teams we can match or he can do the Q/O and be stuck here 1 more year. We completely control whether or not he is in Red next season, he just controls whether or not it is his last. Melo is a 4 with Parsons here and so is Lebron. Why would that upset him? I don't see him being delegated to the bench with those guys here. What is the gamble?

LMA would actually have to play defense as compared to Jones who was a complete goose egg the whole series.

You know a team is going to offer him crazy money right?

Chicago is in play if they don't get Melo.

    Dallas as well.. Fegan+Cuban

No matter how you look at it, Melo can't possibly be a 3 on this team. If people thought we'd be screwed on D with Harden and Parsons, pretty much impossible with Melo and Harden chasing smaller wing players.

Well. This confirms my suspcisions that declining Parsons was clearly part of the Dwight deal. I'm okay with that personally. Gotta do what you gotta do to get Dwight. But at least it makes more sense now than the "Rockets don't want to risk losing Parsons" BS that's been floating around.

Then why did we let him go if we didn't feel like we could retain him? He was our best trade chip and now he is no longer a piece to trade. If there is a high chance that he gets a max deal from a Chicago or a Dallas then this isn't a gamble but it is stupidity, especially if CP made it clear he didn't want to be a 4th option. I don't understand this move.

Teams would be scared to trade for him with one year left on his deal.

Wouldn't chandler be happy with just getting paid a competative salary for his services as opposed to being a 4th option... despite whatever option he is, he will get his bc he is a slasher. Has chicago shown interest in him? dallas?

    This screams three options.

So is the plan 1) to get him to agree to play somewhere while we sign him and trade him there for a player like Love 2) to match any offer and use him as trade bait at the deadline or 3) wait to sign him for significant money after we sign the third star (which your sources with Fegan are saying this doesn't really appeal to him)?

LMA trying to guard Melo would be hilarious.

Utah has Enes Kanter. Lin is a big upgrade over Trey Burke and Alec Burks and would be a good backcourt partner with Heyward. I think they might make the move for Lin.

Les is finally putting his money where his mouth is. We've heard nothing but Morey saying Les will pay for a team that can compete for a championship. Hopefully this doesn't back fire and we end up losing out on the free agent market AND losing Parsons. I don't see Morey giving Parsons a huge pay day over 8 or 9 million if we don't land a good free agent.

Exactly. 12 to 13 for a 2nd tier player who gets his numbers from the system and playing with Harden and D12? Yikes. If he does end up on a new team, it's gonna be a rude awakening for Parsons and his fans.
