I think we would send Jones in that situation and Phil would be ecstatic. DMO has been working out at the Yo all summer with the coaches, Jones is busy riding ATVs.
Either you have bad information or I'm misunderstanding you. There's no restriction on how S&Ts can work, other than the fact that you cannot S&T another team's FA. As in, the Rockets can't sign Lowry this offseason and then trade him to the Spurs, for example. Example from last year: Denver receives Foye in S&T, S&T away Iggy in the same deal. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9...ors-randy-foye-denver-nuggets-trade-completed
If you go to hoops hype.com and take a look at the teams that have cap space to sign Parsons for more than $10 million per year, it's a big list: Lakers, Utah, Toronto, Boston, Washington, Dallas, New Orleans, Cleveland, Charlotte, San Antonio, Detroit, Atlanta, Orlando, Phx, Milwaukee, Philly. Other teams like Chicago, Golden St., Portland, Indiana, Minnesota and OKC could make a move to get under the cap enough to sign him. I doubt he stays in Houston.
Thank you kind sir. There is a pretty big difference in what Melo could make in Houston coming as a free agent (where the Rockets create cap space with just Lin & Asik) and what he can get in a S&T. I don't think for a minute that his people won't push Morey and the Knicks to work out a S&T if he really is determined to come to Houston.
WE can match any offer he receives. He can also take a little less if he really wants to stay here. I would be shocked to see him go, I think we would pay up to 13 Million per year to keep him as long as we get another player prior to signing him to that deal.

The only ones I could see going after him is the lakers, Toronto, Dallas, Orlando, and philly maybe. The others either have solid and pf or can draft one just as good if not better this year due to poistioning. Also parsons wouldn't come off the bench for how mch he is worth. No way he starts in golden state, Portland, Indiana or okc. Also why would he go to Portland in the first place?
The way I read that seems pretty cut and dry where you can't S&T a free agent for another S&T free agent. I thought this is exactly the type of deal the new CBA was trying to prevent. If thats not the case, they really have some screwy language in the CBA.
He could start in Indiana.. If they don't resign Stephenson they'll snatch up parsons Pg n/a SG Paul George SF parsons Pf west C n/a hibbert he gone
Look at the date on that deal. It's AFTER the new CBA. Also, I don't see it written anywhere this cannot be done. http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q90
This might be a question for Bima or another expert but.... If we were to trade Parsons BEFORE July 1st (say.....draft night) would the team that receives him also get the opportunity to sign him as a Restricted Free Agent?
One thing is for sure, if things play out perfectly, the Rockets could skyrocket WELL into the luxury tax. A SnT for Melo, signing Parsons to a decent deal and then using the MLE.....yikes.
We have bird rights. I think this entire situation depends on whether or not we get that third star or not, if we whiff most likely this move is going to singlehandedly destroy our team's hopes of ever winning a championship. No star + Parsons @ 12-13 million a year will be suicide for our team. That is worst case scenario right there and not winning a championship means Dwight bolts and signs somewhere cheap to ring chase. That being said a team with Harden + Howard with scrubs is still going to be fun to watch, so at least we won't be stuck in perennial mediocrity or perennial rebuild.
If we don't get a star then we just let him walk and shoot for 2015. At least that is what I would think Morey would do.
Get ready for a fun summer. Could be extremely exciting... And the gamble pays off... Or this could really backfire. Bigger the risks... The greater the reward. At times...
Likewise, I can't envision Morey paying anything more than $9 million a year for Parsons if we whiff on the star. However it could happen. Maybe Chandler found a way into Morey's heart and for the first time in his life Morey is treating his players like human beings and doing right by Parsons. To be honest this is the move that really spiked my interest. I was completely jaded this off season thinking we were going for at best a Paul Millsap super role player type. We really are going after a third star.
I've read this thread up to this point and this seems to make sense, that is if every thing is factual. Good job sir.
