I think we will have to see what we have when he gets on the floor. If he learns the system, plays stellar D, and starts knocking down the J, then he is gonna wind up starting over Wesley at some point and taking significant minutes. By the same token, if he doesn't learn the system, and dogs it up on D, and throws up bricks, he's gonna wind up at the bottom of the totem pole. It's that simple.

The hope is that he is the first kind of player and he is a better matchup on bigger SGs than Wesley. Then JVG can go with whichever player is shooting hot if the opposing SG is average offensively.

By the time he learns JVG system, JVG will be gone. Can we tuck him away in a dog house right away?

    Optimal Lineup

    Alston
    Bogans
    McGrady
    Hayes
    Yao

Not necessarily the starting lineup, but I'd love to see this team get a lot of minutes.

Yes, it's in the CBA. Retired players salaries are counted against the cap. I believe the motivation for Ward to retire was to become a coach.

    Some nice numbers: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3746/gamelog;_ylt=AopOrgwq81MfJyeyGyEgrMOkvLYF

t's a good trade. everyone was complaining for a taller sg that had some d, so what exactly is the problem? baxter only put up good numbers for a few games after haye's arrival before that he just gave away fouls.

bogans is a quick fix for the rest of the season that doesn't tie down the rocks with a bad salary or a player they don't really want in the long term.

I like the deal. Love Baxter's hustle but he just seemed like a poor man's Weatherspoon (I'm talking Spoon in his younger days)...decent backup that can rebound and hit a few open shots, but not really enough to make a huge impact.

I recall seeing Bogans a bit, but don't remember a whole lot about him. I think this definitely clears up the possibility of a trade...if he can play perimeter defense as good as Wesley or better, and shoot about the same as Wesley, that frees Wesley up for trade. I still like Wesley and would like to keep him around, but he' one of our few tradeable assets with his contract. If we could package him, Swift, Moochie, DA and maybe a pick for a scorer of some sort...preferably at SG, but who knows?

This deal also clears up some of our garbage, I think. DA should be all but gone, and definitely won't see the court. Bowen should be sent to the IR (hopefully for Barry) or the end of the bench. Moochie shouldn't see many minutes.

Unfortunately, Head will probably see the most impact from this deal. His shot has really gone down lately, and I truly do believe it is because of the "rookie wall". Nobody is used to playing NBA basketball for 4 months straight coming into the league...and the shot is the first thing to go when you don't have your legs.

He is not signed through next season. He will be a unrestriced free agent this summer.

if bogans has another year to go this will be roster heading into the summer:

    rafer-sura-spanoulis
    head-bogans-(draft)
    tracy-anderson-(draft)
    jho-hayes-rybo
    yao-swift-deke

no real upgrades in free agency this season. rocks need to find a way to trade up for carney or gay in the draft.

This is a fair swap of each team's 12th Man.*

*The term "12th Man" is used herein with permission from Texas A & M University.

I guess the Bobcats really wanted Lonny after a couple of weeks ago he had 18 points and 11 rebounds against them.

Considering we suck against Atlanta, Utah and couldnt beat Dallas last year, i hope can still score against them now.

Can anyone explain why JVG got rid of Adrian Griffin (starting for the Dallas Mavericks) who is a Keith Bogans type of player, and now he wants to pick up KB who is maybe not as good as Griffin.

BTW: IMO there is no question who makes the decisions on which players get traded, cut or picked up. CD just does the paperwork, but JVG makes the decisions. Personally I hope those decisions are the fuel that drives him right out of here.
