That's just the thing if JVG's ego is even bruised he will sit you even if it means the team loses. If you didn't absolutely kill yourself in practice than you may not play come game time. How many more trades will the Rockets make before they trade JVG?

Why is everyone expecting CD to be able to trade for a Artest, Davis, Sczerbiak type of player, for what we have to trade Bogans is all you can expect. I'm OK with the trade, Baxter wasn't going to be getting many minutes with Chuck Hayes around and we have got a backup swingman for the future. JB won't be back, DA will probably opt out this year if he doesn't get more playing time and Bogans can fill their roles.

As far as blockbuster trades, I am still intrigued with a T-MAC for Paul Pierce plus picks and players.

as far as the depth chart goes, i don't see us shaking everything up.

    right now we have:

    yao-deke
    jho-stro-hayes
    tmac-bowen
    wesley-head
    rafer-moochie

i would assume that the weakest link will be filled first (i.e. moochie). i think bogans is an unofficial backup PG. he played point in college, but i don't expect too much ball handling from him here anyway. when rafer sits tmac and bogans can share PG duties.

bogans will take the toughest defensive assignment from the 1-3 positions when he's in.

what happens how that barry and DA are back? i think another trade is in the works. we made this trade for 2 reasons: one being bogans is a good fit, and the second being that baxter is too good not to get any minutes. well the same problem is now in our backcourt. we have a lot of guys who won't get any minutes.

I don't feel like reading through the entire thread to find if it's been mentioned, but the reason that DA and Barry didn't play last night is because you can't trade a player that's on the inactive list. JVG had to "play" Baxter so he could be traded.

Remember the other night he said he didn't know which of the big men to sit. Well, maybe CD was shopping Baxter AND Swift...thus the decision not to activate DA and/or Barry.

Also, this might be leading to something bigger. Perhaps the Rockets are packaging Swift and Moochie for someone, and they needed someone to replace Moochie first. Moochie has about 4.5 mil that will expire next year (team option) so he's attractive to other teams, believe it or not lol.

Yeah, but you can still sit Moochie and Bowen

Ahhhhhhhhh. That does make a lot of sense. Maybe Swift could be on his way out after all?

i would have pushed hard to get Gerald Wallace for Stromile Swift. imagine what he would do in this defense and with these teammates.

i honestly dont know alot about bogans, just seems like an athletic dime a dozen guard, although we have been quite short of them. if he averaged 30 mins a game with current production he would be scoring about 12 a game .

Says who. Bogans was never activated, and Artest was sitting on the inactive list for weeks before he finally got dealt. Nene is most definitely on the inactive list yet his name comes up in trade rumors every day.

I think Bogans should take up Bowen's minutes at the SF position. I still don't understand why JVG didn't activate Barry last night yet lamented there was "no spark."

Hmm...could have sworn that was the rule, but now that you mention it I don't see how it could be. I didn't just make it up though. Perhaps I heard incorrectly.

No way it would've happened. The Bobcats have 0 dollars committed to their players in 2009, so getting Swift's contract wouldn't have fit in with their long-term plans.

You're probably thinking of the rule where you can't cut somebody that was on the injured list. Don't know how it applies to the inactive list now, but that's how it used to be for sure.

It is not a question of what they get for Baxter, it is what and who they get. This team desperately needs shooting and rebounding.

I think Bogan is going to take some of Head's and Wesley's minutes. Bowen is no longer needed, nor was he ever. Same goes for Mooch. I see him coming in and playing 15-20 min, depending on who we are palying (i.e. playing LA last night he probably would have gotten more PT to guard Kobe). I think this is a good pick-up!

i agree 100% about bogans expected PT. he will basically be used as a matchup guy off the bench.

however, i don't think this is the end of bowen PT. you underestimate how much JVg loves him and how much he hates moochie.

i think bogans makes moochies minutes backing up rafer for about 15 MPG. with specific matchups such as kobe, he will play some time at the 2.

I think this is a good trade with a lot potential. Bogans has proven that he belongs in the league while Baxter, who gives great effort, isn't talented enough to stick around. Bogans plays solid defense, is capable of knocking down an open shot and will give the effort the JVG demands every night. He's basically a better Rybo and a taller Wesley - minus David's better three point shot. I also think Head will still get minutes since he's playing pretty good on d right now. Hopefully, another trade will go down including Wesley or Moochie.

I'm pretty sure Bogans played at the SG/SF position while at Kentucky. In 2001, Kentucky was loaded with Prince, Bogans and freshman Chuck Hayes. Kentucky seems to keep putting out quality NBA players.

Both DA and Rybo have player options. It's not like any of them will pass up the extra year on their contracts especially DA since this year has proved his IL sitting ass wasn't just bad luck in Portland.

Wesley said in an interview he reckons he has two more years in the NBA in him. So maybe he'll he re-sign for the vet's min.

    Moochie and Barry are gone.

I had no idea that we were paying (coach) C Ward 1.8 million this year and 1.5 million next year! Do we still have to pay they guy even if he is not on next years roster?
