We didn't replace Ariza with Martin. We replaced Ariza for Lee and replace T-Mac and Landry for Martin.
Because our starting pg is a 6ft or less who could care less to play D and even if he wanted to opposing guards can just hoist above him easily . What can i say about KMart Hes got no bulk at all .... if he plays D all his bone and ribs will be broken .... imagine him guarding and banged by Artest (scary thought)
DRR: 24th, but right before lakers ORR: 7th REBR: 14th TO:14th EFF FG%:18th TS%: 9th ASS: 10th OFF eff: 7th Not too bad for the others.
You're kidding right?. Yao's interior defense has been farcical. He has no speed and centers and bigs are blowing by him at will
If we are still there and struggling at the end of December than this will be much more telling than after 3 games. DD
The biggest problem for me has been Scola. Its been kinda masked because he has been putting up monster numbers, but he is dreadful at covering the pick and roll.
Van Gundy- scrubs surround 2 stars and play hard nose defense= playoffs Adelman- scrubs surround 2 stars and still play Gundy ball= playoffs Adelman- scrubs surround 1 injured star and a couple nice players and play little defense=?????????? I think we have replicated the Sacramento Kings Adelman coached without the same talent and chemistry I am still waiting for the rebuilding process to get traction... Take off the rose colored glasses and get your magnifying glasses out, this team is built for transition scoring with little defensive toughness.
Yes, 3 games is small sample size but the biggest problem with the Rockets in 3 games is 3 pt shooting. Both in making and defending the arc. The Rockets are as a team currently: 25th in 3 pt shooting percentage at 27.3 % 22nd in defending the 3 at 39.7 % This makes the Rockets 3-pt % differential a ridiculous -12.4 % which is 28th worst in the NBA right now. Combine that with a high number of turnovers (16.3 TO/G which is 20th or 11th worst), and you have why the Rockets are 0-3. This is a small sample size, which is why when you look at these same stats you see that OKC (2-1) is 30th in 3 pt shooting at 20.8%, 29th in defending the 3 pt at 45.9 %, and 30th in differential at a -25.1%. OKC overcame that because they played Detroit, Chicago, and Utah and only commit a league best 12.3 TO/G. However, referring the post I made in a previous thread looking Rockets pre/post Martin trade: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=5471422&postcount=38 You can tell that the Rockets ability to defend the 3 pt has been woeful since Martin was acquired, so this is not just a new problem or solely due to sample size The ability to shoot the 3 pt IS completely due to sample size. Think for second that the Rockets have averaged 110 pts/game while shooting 3-pt's at 27.3%. The defense has been problematic and things need to be shored up, but don't worry balance will be restored to the force.
Scola is a defensive hole. He lost his people multiple times for last 3 games. The result is easy layup...
You= illiterate? The spelling that you thought was wrong is really the original English (Anglo) spelling. American English is mostly derived from the Anglo English. Before you criticize someone make sure you are not making yourself foolish.
I wonder if the Brooks Martin combo has a problem similar to the Battier Ariza combo. With Battier/Ariza, the problem is that having two wings who must play off of others and cannot create offense on their own (Battier doesn't try, Ariza tries and fails) puts too much burden on the rest of the lineup, especially the PG, to use a lot of possessions. Brooks and Martin, on the other hand, both being poor defenders on the perimeter, puts a lot of burden for the rest of the linep to become "high ussage defensive players" by having to cover for them on the defensive end. We'll see if this trend holds up. The Rockets look OK on both ends of the floor for much of the first 3 games, but absolutely collapses on other occassions, and it's been with different people on the floor, so can't really pin in on an individual or two yet. Maybe they'll learn to avoid giving up these runs.
