Pinson has been waived, and Tyler Johnson is a Net. Look it up on nba.com I wasn't interested in Johnson. We have Rivers and EG. Pinson can replace Thabo, but I doubt if the latter is going anywhere.
Theo Pinson was quickly signed by Knicks, 6'6 young combo guard that play tough D is very desirable asset. Especially on a team like Rockets that emphasize positionless basketball. Rockets were legit interested in TJ for a reason, and have been for a while. He can play same role that Rivers provides but with more bounce and at cheaper cost. This acquisition is more about future than this season, similar to Nwaba. https://www.netsdaily.com/2020/6/27/21304936/tyler-johnson-is-finally-where-he-was-meant-to-be Morey wanted TJ but he preferred to play for Nets more.
I never believed Rockets were trying to sign Tyler Johnson. Teams that are serious don’t announce ahead of time that they “intend” to go after player x or y or z. This just sign them.......like David Nwaba was. Nowhere did I see that the Rockets, “intend” to sign David Nwaba.....you don’t give another team reason or chance to cut you off in negotiations with said, intended target.” Rockets did a “Tim Tebow”........like when the Patriots said they liked Tim Tebow and the Broncos drafted him to keep him away from the Patriots. Only I think the Rockets were hoping the Lakers would bite, not the Nets
definitely not true at all. we hear it all the time here with who the rockets are interested in and it ends up being an acquisition. of course it doesnt always work out but the thought of you don't hear who they intend to go after is false
So both Feigan and SI's Michael Shapiro were lying or used to leak fake news? This is not the first time Morey has coveted Tyler Johnson, was he faking it 2 years ago as well?
Remind me who we(Rockets) did that with? Was it James Nunnaly? Before he signed with T-Wolves? @D-rock it’s not called lying......it’s called misdirection. Teams do it often. Especially when negotiating. In all honesty agents do it as well. If you want to buy a couch? Car? House? Do you tell everyone on Facebook you think you want it? Or do you buy it first? and then say, look everyone!
EG, lawson, melo, mcw, tc, cp3, roco, james ennis, shump, joe johnson, brewer the list goes on. This isn't new. we hear about who the rockets are interested a lot
Melo and CP3 were years back prior to the Rockets actually getting them. Melo free agency with Lin photo “chopped” stuck to wall with Melo face. Melo stayed in NY. Safe after Melo left Thunder because nobody else would touch him. I didn’t hear anything on CP3 for Beverley/Dekker/Harrell/ Lou Williams.....but yes years prior Rockets wanted him. Yes Rockets wanted RoCo for years......but did they announce they wanted RoCo in trade right before they pulled the trade? Guessing TC is Tyson Chandler.....again years of wanting him, not sure they announced it right before signing. Joe Johnson was one......handful of teams wanted him and I know the Rockets showed interest in him prior to signing. So I confirm this one. But I have to take your word Shump, Ennis MCW,.......I doubt it. Show me a link....or don’t, I won’t lose sleep over it. Rockets have shown interest in LeBron, Dragic, Bosh, Lowery, Durant, etc.....didn’t get them either.
all heard of interest prior. none of these were just out of the left field. There's threads all over cf's about these guys prior to actually becoming rockets. of course things don't always happen. that's just obvious. but the idea of you should never hear about any potential acquisitions is just false. Rockets star James Harden is pushing hard for free-agent-to-be Chris Paul to come to Houston and has made his interest known to the Clippers' All-Star point guard, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein . The Houston Rockets have serious interest in Covington, league sources say. The Rockets are in the market for wings; with James Harden having another MVP-caliber season, they’re a team that should go all in no matter who the target is. They have the ammo to do so: Despite the pile of picks it sent Oklahoma City in the Chris Paul–for–Russell Westbrook blockbuster, Houston can still dangle its first-round picks in 2020 and 2022. Source: Tyson Chandler is likely target for Rockets in their search for backup big. Chandler, who turns 37 in October, was effective defender and rebounder as reserve for Lakers last year. He has a rep as a great locker room guy and strong relationship with CP3 from N.O. days. @MarcJSpearsESPN. Spears PG Michael Carter-Williams got a call from the Rockets last night, a source said. New York, OKC, Dallas, NO & Charlotte have interest, too. The Pistons have James Ennis’ early bird rights and have made re-signing him a priority. Several other teams, including the Sixers, Rockets and Nets, have expressed interest in signing the 28-year-old wing, league sources say.
I think you just supported my point. Morey does sometimes telegraphs the players he likes: CP3, Melo, Bosh, Jimmy Buckets, Pau, Nene, Ryno, Asik, Lin, Tyson, etc. And Morey always makes multiple attempts to woo these players, sometimes signing them way past their their prime. Jonathan Feigan has broken some things with Rockets, he is legit source. Same with Sport's Illustrated's Michael Shapiro. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/te...-roster-move-guard-Tyler-Johnson-15352724.php
@D-rock @YOLO I believe both of you are confusing having players on your wish list with announcing to the world you plan to sign a guy within a week. Joe Johnson was wanted by several teams....I don’t have a problem with the Rockets throwing their name in the hat with them. Same as with Melo those years he was up for free agency, or Bosh, or LeBron, or CP3. But dumb to tell everyone you want someone that is under the radar and is cheap before signing that player. Makes the person more expensive as others then want that player.......supply and demand. With Tyler Johnson I know the Rockets have wanted him for years, which gave the rumor legs; but I never really felt Westbrook, Rivers, Eric Gordon, McLemore, Harden gave room for the poor 3-pt shooting Tyler Johnson this restart. Maybe that was just me. If they really wanted him......they should have kept their mouths shut.
Question @D-rock.....how would you feel if the Rockets sent Feigan out there to say the Rockets were interested in signing Johan Bolden or Justin Anderson? Would you feel confident they would sign them? Or wouldn’t you say sign them.....then talk about it. Keep in mind the Rockets don’t have a pot to piss in and can’t get in a bidding war with any team.
I prefer to choose nick young, Michael Beasley or some other 3 points shooter. No one will guard Tyler who shoot poorly. Are there any previous all star want to short contract for this year playoff. better look at that
