I agree that we should have kept Gay. I'm not going to say that anything about mediocre play, though.

A couple of things struck me in your post. First, who has said that adding Barry and resigning Landry (the "piece meal additions") will "make us the Celtics?" Nobody on the Rockets said that was all they were going to do. Explain exactly why waiting to pick up an impact player is a bad strategy since the Rockets main assets are expiring contracts and will have more value later in the year? It sounds like you are complaining for the sake of complaining.

Secondly, why question the writer's integrity just because you disagree with the Rockets approach? Do you think "the company" is really telling him what to write and that he would really trot out their ideas as his own?

I think Fritz does a great job and I disagree with the teams stategy of waiting. Why? Lakers and blazers can put together much better deals than the rox at trading deadline. The same people dismissing a team like Portland, also didn't see the hornets come up and blow past us after missing the playoffs the yr before. Not only that, they had the spurs in a game 7 with a chance to fo to wc finals. Realistically, if ur a gm that want to dump salary, would u want the rox options, odom and his 15m expiring or portland and their expirings plus young cheap talent like outlaw, webster, frye, fernandez or pryzbilla? If I'm a gm, I know who's last.

I think the hunter gets the deer and the hunted gets eaten. Sitting back waiting for tracy to go down in january and having to make the deal then will only drive the price up. Kupchak said losing bynum, they thought it was a chance of them falling out of the playoff race. That's why the extra 1st rd pick and crittendon was included. If they move now, the new addition can use training camp and preseason to get rolling and the team can come out strong and get that #1 seed like boston. U snooze, u lose.

If James Jones or Walter Hermann are the 3rd star, we have the worst star in the league. ROFL.

Being ballsy, would be trading for a player like KG, Ray Allen, Shaq or Gasol.

Swift has never been solid. He's still full of potential and will be 30 in 2009. ;)

Waiting to pick up the an impact player in the latter part of the year is not the wrong strategy at all,in fact we don't have any other choice. You haven't seen my other posts.I've clearly mentioned that expiring contracts are much more likely to be useful at the trading deadline and not right know. I'm not advocating to throw 12 M at Maggette for example either. I wrote that as well. Fritz clearly mentioned using bargin bin players which could help the Rockets. This won't be enough IMO.

I also said that Morey wants another big player in addition to this too,but my point is this isn't going to be easy by any means. My perception is that DM thinks he can get it done without damaging the team (I admit I might be wrong here).

It's possible that Fritz feels the same way as them. I felt when he was writing for the Houston Press he was able to address some of the tough issues facing the team in his interviews with DM.

I hope that will still be the case, since JF is known for his independent thinking. When someone joins an organization they do want their views reflected strongly and sometimes don't like it when different points of view are presented.

I don't think Friedman is saying that the acquisition of a big name is specifically a bad thing. What's being said is, don't let your desire for that acquisition be a blind one that comes with little prudence. You can see Maggette as a big name and a scorer and say "he's the third scoring option" very hastily, or you can think more like a good GM and analyze what the acquisition would mean as a whole. It still might mean getting the big name is good for the team, but you're actually thinking about the implications rather than trying to shove names into the roster (which is what most of us do). And you can't blame us; we're fans. That's our tendency. That's why we're not in charge. That's why we got utterly ticked when the Texans passed on Reggie Bush for Mario Williams. We were wrong about that one.

Well, eventually Houston fans were not so much mad at them for passing on Reggie Bush as they were another guy.

I digress, that line alone is enough football talk for a few months.

Making a deal unbelievable is art, to make a deal that the media has speculated is nothing of art.An artist will never trade some rosters for arest as they all guessed. The deal made by artist should not invole artest.the artist will not do anything that can be done by artest.a trade that should be made by artist should be amazing at least.the difference between artest and artist is more than a letter.

As what i told ,pack battier ,jax, raffer ,luther and exception as a whole, for Kidd who can help us achive our goal. He is the guy who can contribute most, every gm will never refuse to do so.if asked whether kidd is old, then the answer is no.The deal will be gonna benefit mavs and rockets both, even though, battier and luther rafer and jax are valuable enough to hold, but i can guarantee that kidd will play a more important role. With kidd who will win the gold ,we wil be able to bring the o'bryne cup home.
