i could kick Robin's a$$--batmanjones created me and i am loyal bound to him forever...he is ......my.......father i am just really pumped about the season and excited to see some legitimate topics on the board and i didn't wanna see it get squished. anyway, heypartner, who are you to be on my case, i hear you own one of charles barkley's jock straps--used and unwashed. SICK!!!
no...I have one of the many David Robinson jockstraps that were littering the court in '95. used and abused jockstrap!! B-Ball Freak. cool, thx. So the context was not really directly Nachbar, just more about all the summer league invitees...hint, hint...Boki!!! I hope it translates to the starters, too, and not just the backups. Looking at JVG's history of never starting a 2nd yr or 1st yr..., I think the attitude of "you must earn it" will permeate through all roster spots.
Mo must be starter, he is better than griffin, simple. I think Griffin can play better against second inside units. Although Mo Taylor can play = at starter or backup. He have unstopable moves. And RIce....mmm, maybe PIKE better, he can apport more things. The backups should be the specialists, not the starters, and RIce only can shot. Pike can do other things
I'd take that a step further by saying that not only is Nachbar not a starter, from what I saw in several summer league games, he's not even a decent backup. Seriously. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I honestly don't think Boki will be contributing much this year. More like a 10th or 11th player than one of the 8 or 9 in the main rotation.
I'm in the camp that would understand Mo T. starting, but is against Rice starting. Rice isn't the consistent outside threat that he once was. There are games when he's really on, and far too often he's not. When he's on the team is a far a better team, because it really helps space out the defense, and we play more team ball. But do we start a guy and hope each night that it's going to be the one out of three times when his shooting is on? The only reason I can see starting Rice is to decide if his shot is working that night. Then we can get him out of the game quickly if it's not.
ok here my take on situation! i think eddie should start and mo should come off the bench for reasons brought up before on this post.by mo comin off the bench gives u a scoring punch because, having cato and eddie could put a damper on our scoring down low.it just seem to equal out with cato/tayor combo and yao/e. griff combo.we we have had cato and e griff comin our chances would be much greater for us to have as scroing drought in the 2nd qter. maybe i dont know nothing either so dont mind me lol!!!!
So if Rice doesn't start, who does? Boki? I agree with topfive, he's not ready for the NBA yet (and I too fear he will struggle to stay in the NBA once his guaranteed contract is up). AG is going to cover the SFs most of the night? That won't be pretty. Rice isn't my 1st choice but unfortunately he's the only choice.
Rice shot about 47% inside the arc last year, compared to 53% for Pike. They both shot 40% behind the arc. I don't think Rice would have gotten those numbers if he had been starting. He got half his minutes against bench players. I believe he will be more effective off the bench. If Pike starts at small forward, we are undersized, but we have increased mobility, athleticism and accuracy. I prefer Yao-Eddie-Pike-Cat-Steve backed up by Cato-Mo-Rice-Adrian-Moochie
If memory serves, in his last full season with the Knicks, JVG ran a rotation about like this: 27 min pg Mark Jackson 6-3 40 min sg Allan Houston 6'5 39 min sf Latrell Sprewell 6'5 backed up by 15 min pg Charlie Ward 6'2 24 min sf Glen Rice 6'8 compare that rotation to 41 min pg Francis 42 min sg Mobley 23 min sf Piatkowski backed up by 19 min sg/sf Adrian 19 min sg Glen Rice 6'8
We don't want Francis and Mobley playing 41 minutes-plus every night... at least I don't. They're not 21 any longer and need their minutes cut so they are fresh at the end of the season. I think they have been playing WAY too many as it is. Occasionally, sure, but not on a regular basis. I thought that was one of the nice things about picking up Piatkowski and AG, that they could cut down on Cat's minutes. I don't know who will sub for Francis, unless Norris gets an implant of some sort... or if we pick up Mark Jackson or someone else who can put Mooch further down the bench.
I plugged both of them in at their last season numbers. I favor cutting back the minutes of Francis and Mobley, but we have to have someone to play their minutes besides Moochie. I feel good about Adrian or Pike. It's backup point guard and starting small forward where we have holes. Mark Jackson for bench pg.
Agree, agree, agree! I hope we plug up the holes at those spots before the season starts, although JVG might want to see how the guys we have play together under his regime when it counts before he makes a decision on a trade (by the deadline). I think we'll get a vet PG before camp, however. In fact, I'll be shocked if we don't. Someone needs to light a blowtorch under Moochie's a**. I hope Van Gundy can do it himself, but I don't want the Rocks to enter the season counting on it.
I know a lot peeps don't like Stephen Jackson, but he would also fill a hole for us. If we could get Mark Jackson for .7 mil, then we might be able to Stephen for 1.5 mil. we don't have anyone to match up with 6'7-6'9 athletic 2s and 3s. Jackson has his problems, but his line is similar to Posey's except for rebounds, where James has the edge. 6'8 Glen Rice bench scorer 6'8 Stephen Jackson long guy to fill the Posey role 6'5 Adrian Griffin a better version of Hawkins 6'6 Eric Piatkowski a shooter for 2/3 6'4 Cat Mobley 6'3 Steve Francis 6'3 Mark Jackson run the offense that's 7 guys to play 1-2-3
