By far, huh? I'm sad you're not our coach. You know so much more about basketball than Rick Adelman.

Post-up means you receive the ball in close, with your back to the basket. From that point, a player has a number of options including backing down the player, turning and shooting, quickly spinning to the left/right shoulder, facing up, passing back out.

Can we just skip ahead to '10-'11?

Well (he means efficiency) maybe someone should call in (he means efficiency) and ask Morey to explain Adelman's quote(he means efficiency) the next time he's on a radio show or maybe someone needs to tweet it. And by the way, i think he's talking about efficiency..

It's always about efficiency. Given the ball in a particular situation -- how efficient are you? Ultimately, that's what matters.

Exactly, which is why i dont understand why people are questioning Adelman's quote like he's implying Landry is a better player overall than Scola. All adelman is saying is that in post up situations Landry is their most efficient player.

if you read the article, in context adelman is saying we can't depend on our postups, that instead we need ball movement to get good shots.

I thought Landry did pretty good on his post ups versus the Mavericks. He was definitely efficient.

From the sound of it, I think Morey might agree that Landry is our best post up player (or, at least, hopeful that he becomes that guy this year). Listen at 5:15 mark:

It's evident to me that the Rockets are making more of an effort to get the ball into Landry in the post this year. He's got a nice turnaround jumper and jump hook turning into the lane. And he can face up and fire, or face up and drive it.

Is it? A specific player's efficiency, as in points scored versus points attempted, is extremely overrated. It's more important to see how a player's offensive skills provide good spacing and scoring opportunities for his teammates. Scola still seems to be better at making the team more "efficient".

Landry does seem to have a better chance down there on a game to game basis. He usually has either the quickness or strength advantage and finishes well with contact. Scola just has a tough time with some matchups while Landry will defend himself some plays.

I was specifically talking about post ups, and I'd say making good decisions with the ball is part of being an efficient player. It's not just FGM/FGA.
