It's like picking my favorite child.

I like Scola in the traditional, set up your offense, kick it down low to post player and go to work. He is creative with his back to the basket, especially since added some left handed moves over the summer.

Landry is more of a face up guy but seems a bit more versatile if he has the ball directly under the basket. He can over power guys and leap higher, while Scola is quicker.

Pick your poison, they are both great PFs.

Scola is a far superior post up player than Landry and I actually like Landry more than Scola. Landry on the other hand does have a better face up game, he can drive on his man or shoot the jumper.

I hope Adelman does not completely abandon the post up game. There will be times that Scola gets hot and dominates the low post, Adelman needs to keep in mind that Scola has this ability.

And becoming a perimeter shooting team may be the key as to who makes the final roster. The fringe player would need to be able to contribute offensively. The majority feelsthat the final roster spots are going to the bigs, but it could just as well go to a shooter(s). Beck may have a chance afterall.

Scola is probably a top 10 player in the post. Nontraditional but crafty. I conclude one thing from the blurb. Rick Adelman wouldn't know post play if it slapped him in the face. Which makes sense actually.

Battier does have a pretty effective post up hook shot move which I don't know why they haven't used more when Yao is not in there.

Battier finds it difficult to get it off against the big guys.

Adelman obviously knows more about basketball than me and is much more familiar with the team than just the casual fan is but I can't help but to disagree. If Landry is such a superior post player then why isn't he starting? I mean, it's not like we're shaping up to be some sort of offensive juggernaut of a team this year. Games where we break 100 points will be treated as near miraculous.

Yeah, saw that. Knew it was coming, just holding out hope for something shocking. Like trading Cook, or Anderson (not sold on the guy).

My opinion is adelman is probably talking in terms of being a versitlile post player. Scola is a finess post player. He doodles, fakes, contours and shoot awkward. He struggles against the longer types inside because of his lack of explosion. Landry explodes inside and finishes without fakes and hesitation. He also can face up and put the ball on the floor and finish. He doesn't need as much space to shoot over other defenders. When u can explode,u don't have to trick people in the post. I think both are effective, just different.

We will know all about Landry's post game this season as he will get more opportunities. Adelman sees more potential for Carl obviously because he has better physical attributes than Scola. Scola is the more polished post player because he has so much international experience playing that way. If Landry can harness his post skills and become consistent, then he can be better.

C'mon now, i dont think it's that difficult to understand what he's talking about...instead of saying the man doesn't know basketball, try to figure out what he meant by it. What does Landry have on Scola? EFFICIENCY!!!!! It's a word that's been tossed around with Yao for years. And for years they've tried to get him the ball every time because of it. That's why Adelman wants Landry to try to score every time he touches the ball....

Landry brought in his new weapon, the up and under reverse move. I still think Scola does better under the post than Landry. Landry is good at put backs and dunks, but otherwise Scola dominates.

I don't think there's a real argument in this thread from anything I've seen posted. Carl is one of the guys we have with "upside" and RA needs all the pups to excel.

I still think there is a plan whereby Scola & Landry will play together more, but that's going to depend much on TMac, Battier & Ariza.

And also, Carl's about the best trade-bait we have.

Adelman is nuts if our first option in the post is Landry.

We are not going anywhere unless Scola can manage double teams fairly well in the post. I don't even think of Landry doing so.

I think Scola must be our 1st offensive weapon this season, or at least given the chance at one point.

Last week in a radio interview, Morey mentioned Landry as a guy the Rockets feel good about when asked who would step up this year. Said that they want Landry to be more aggressive in the post. I think the organization is expecting/hoping for Landry to become a force inside. They see more upside in his offensive game than Scola's.

Though my fav. rocket is obviously Landry, I have to admit that Scola starts games because hes all around better.. maybe less explosiveness.. and i must admit.. after watching a lil bit of pops.. i think were gonna do good in the post with all of them. not just one.

im impressed with landry's preseason games. he developed some pretty nice moves around the basket and a soft touch for layups and semihooks and not jsut relying on dunks. but im not a big fan of him doing those reverse layups all the time.

I agree that we're lucky to have both of them. PF was a hole for us not so long ago either.

Having said that, wasn't it just last season that Adelman was preparing Landry to spend some time at SF too?
