Yep, he is a hungry player. I have a feeling if he continues to shine in the preseason but we just don't have a spot for him and cut him, then a lot of teams will be all over him as an end of the bench 3/4. Very versatile guy. With injuries on whatever team he ends up on, he could end up like Matt Barnes and prove everyone that gave up on him wrong. He actually looks like he would be our most athletic player on the team between, him, Tmac, and Snyder. It would be amazing if nobody picked him up and he was still available if we ever needed more depth but I don't see that happening.

Its funny, I was just thinking Harris would have been the perfect guy to defend Harpring last year in the playoffs. Tmac did okay once Harpring got the ball, but Harpring usually was able to muscle Tmac so far down low. I dont know if Harris can be as good as Harpring on the offensive end, but he could definitely guard those big physical guards.

Yeah I agree, in the Rockets-Jazz series, Harpring-Mcgrady match up is really bad for us. A typical jerry sloan dirty player with a hand on your wrist/elbow everytime you shoot. Then on the offensive end, Harpring likes to post up, where McGrady doesn't defend well. If we can put Harris on him, it will be great. But also we can now put Bonzi wells on him. I think Harpring now will have to defend either Mcgrady or Wells. I don't think they have other guards that can defend Bonzi's post up play.

I was at that preseason game thinking he was the 2nd coming of Hakeem. If only . . .

I remember that too. I was like portland gave us a steal for pippen. Hopefully we wont make the same mistake with jackie butler.

Harris hasn't played in the last 2 games and I think they might be doing this so it will be easier to cut him. The way I see it, 3 of the following 4 players will make the final cuts: Snyder, Butler, Landry, and Harris.

If Harris plays, he'll continue to perform well gaining more support from fans. The Rockets may be looking to take an inferior player over him because of the contract situation or the past decision to sign Landry instead of just retain his rights. So I don't think they want fans to remember who they're letting go.

    I hope I'm wrong, but I think that's what they're setting up.

what a conspiracy theory. I would wager to guess that they want to see what other people can do too. They saw what Harris did, now they need to evaluate Landry and Novak.

IMO it'd be easier for the Rockets to keep Harris if they can salary dump Snyder or Butler. Even though some are writing him off as an IR lister I think he can crack the playing rotation. As someone posted early he could be this season's Matt Barnes.

    I like Harris better than

    Landry
    Reed
    Butler
    Novak
    Hayes
    Synder
    JL3

I hope he sticks the team needs an energy guy, whomever said he could guard Harpring is right on...

He's an Artest type player. except not crazy.

At best he could turn out to be one of those really explosive SFs

I agree with you except you are crazy to include hayes in there. let's not forget harris still has not played against real nba talent in game shape. I'm just curious what the salary cap implications will be if we can't get some of our scrubs traded.

True, I like Hayes, I didn't say Harris was better, but that I liked him better than Hayes.

He reminds me a lot of Hayes, but is way more explosive, and has a much better offensive game.

Can he guard other power players? That remains to be seen but if he proves he can (and a lot of reports from Rockets training came have been positive) then I would be in favor of Harris over Hayes.

And for the record, I think Hayes is a marginal rotation player.....Scola is much better....already.

    Did you read this article?

I guess it doesn't sound like such a conspiracy theory now.

Harris did great in summer league, in camp, and in pre-season games, but now he's are first cut. It was such a stupid move to sign Landry instead of just keeping his rights, when he's never going to get a chance to play much this year anyway.

Like I said, they didn't want to play Harris the last couple of games and do well, because they didn't want draw attention to what a bone-head decision they were about to make.

Morey had a great summer, but my respect for him is diminished quite a bit by this.

Well, I did like Yao Ming, Battier and Hayes too......

    :D

I just like heady ball players who know how to cut and pass.

I think Harris may be back when the Roster is cleared out.

"Harris Leaps Short of Landing a Job"
Sorry dude, maybe next time. Joking lol, I hope he makes the roster later in the season though, after we cut another person, or two, or three.

I was hoping he wasn't going to get cut, but never would have guessed him being the first cut. Maybe they chose to keep Snyder over Harris because of experience. Besides the obvious favorite additions to the roster, he was my favorite. .....Hopefully the Rockets pick him back up......just like Hayes
