Has Steve Novak ever had a stretch of several games where he's shot well? Untapped potential to become a Jason Kapono just isn't going to cut it.
Agree... Potentially more active than the purely spot up Novak Smarter than Snyder...maybe even smarter than most other players in training camp (Rice University is a good school) Not sure about Landry yet. But Harris has a great motor that never quits...you gotta really like that. He may even be an upgrade to Hayes...offensively.
Harris is the second coming of SUPER MARIO!!! Harris is NOT just a post player, he is certainly more of a wing player than Novak. Just because all Novak can so is stand at the 3pt line doesn't make him a wing player. Novak can't guard 95% of the wing players in the NBA and prolly can't guard 95% of the post players. That means that 95% of the time Novak is on the court we are getting our A$$ kicked by whoever he is supposed to be guarding. Sura - gone JL3 - gone Laundry - gone cheaper to cut Novak - gone cheaper to cut and worthless Reed or Synder - one gone or maybe both prolly decided by $$$ lost(I think synder is gone because he doesn't seem to fit the system so far)
I like mike harris. He's a versitile two way player (unlike novak), he's smart (unlike snyder) he works hard and wants it realllly bad (unlike carl "the contract holdout" landry). In an 82 game season, you need guys who come off the bench and hustle, not only to maintain the teams sharpness, focus, and intensity, but also as injury insurance. Harris has a decent mid range game, a solid post up game, a drive to succeed and a knowledge of when and where to cut in the offense...not to mention an engine that's straight diesel. He should make the team...period.
I was thinking, this would make a good standardized test comparison question: Swift: Hayes = Snyder: ____ The answer would be Harris, the not quite as freaky atheletic, but stronger and smarter version of Snyder.
Thas close but I don't think that snyder is quite the completely unmotivated overtallented slug that Swift was I just think he is not real bright.
Not too long ago this guy was playing in The MET basketball league. I am glad to see him get another shot in the league. On another note, Mo Taylor was up there a few weeks ago working out for about 30-45 minutes. Dude had a nice jumper. I think he missed maybe 5 shots the entire time. I was very impressed.
I guess I have not seen enough of Harris because to me he is just as athletic as Snyder, with a more consistent midrange jumper and is probably much stronger. With the guy's hunger I see no reason why he could not become a good 3 point shooter within another year or so. He just seems to have all the tools to be an asset at the 2/3 and even 4 position. With Bonzi likely leaving after this season we will be in need of a wing with some size and athletic ability.
Hmm.... I am actually wondering right now whether Mike Harris can be the next Matt Harping.... hmmm..... Guys, your thoughts?
if Harris can establish himself on this team much like Hayes did last year, then I'm happy. We need a smart and athletic 3/4 like him on our team.
No questions about that. Novak is a better shooter but he's only shooter. Harris has already showed his athletic, shootin' skills so I would also prefer Harris over Steve
