More like 20%? Lets see... even though his rehab is going faster than plan (which is true with Yao) we'll use the original plan to see how far he is. 1 year = 12 months. So far it's been 6 months. So that is at least 50%. Now add that to Stevie saying he is going faster than schedule. And maybe he is getting the 3 to 4 weeks from updates from his doctor? Your jumping into conclusions, too quick. And BrooksBall, I'm just excited to hear that Stevie's mental side is positive. I'm not going to judge his physical side cause I have no idea where he is at.
And forgot to reply to the bottom part of Redao's post. No players are fully 100%. Very true. But Francis is talking about one body part. The body part that had surgery. Please, stop making useless attacks. Being a hater/disbeliever (whatever you want to be called) but at least have some good reasoning behind it.
When Yao was 70%, he was competing in the Olympics. still Yao is months from 100%. Now, Steve is still in the swimming stage, how come he is only 3 or 4 weeks from 100%? I was just questioning his answer a bit. and you are calling me a hater. Don't you think that's "too quick"?
Yao wasn't 70% health wise he was 70% conditioning wise. Francis is not 100% health wise and training camp is right around the corner. I was hoping he can come back but after hearing that I will be shocked to see him part of the rotation at any point this season. Even if he will get healthy , his coinditioning will be very bad and he didn't touch a basketball for 8 months or more.
As a cross country runner, i hate swimmers. However, I bet Michael Phelps could beat a good portion of basketball players in both distance and speed. True, he may not have the strength of most bball players, but it shows that swimming will increase stamina.
Great interview, Jason. Franchise used to be a blue dog here, he is back in houston but he is not where that he spent his first several years of career life. HOwever, I still expect the cluthfans to embrace our steve with nosiy applouse and a hug, or even a kiss. It doesn't matter how many points we'll get in the season games, because he inspires his mates even if he was deeply asleep on the bench.
OK, my bad on calling you a hater. There's just a lot of people that call themselves "reasonable" and say their not a hater even though they are. I'm not sure about Yao. I haven't heard from him since the Olympics. But wouldn't you think, if Yao did what Stevie did (Not going to Olympics) that he too would have rehabbed faster? Yao had his dream and he put it over (rightfully so) the risk of getting re injured and slowing down his health. Francis in the other hand, put his health (again, rightfully so) over playing basketball so he can be ready for training camp. Francis is not a one year rental if he turns out to be good for us. He'll be with us longer if he shows us he can play. And Francis knows that and he is making sure his long term isn't in jeopardy just to play sooner. He is in swimming stage but I'm sure he doesn't mean 100% Basketball wise. He is most likely talking about his quadriceps that he had surgery on.
No disrespect with SF3, I like him as a player. But do you guys think we should focus on developing Aaron Brooks than waiting for SF3 to come back?
Sounds to me like it would be a huge surprise if he could actually contribute this season. It would be great, but I don't have high hopes.
Exactly people please don't underestimate swimming because it is one of the sports that require the most conditioning and its good on the legs as well
Plus, have you seen the female swimmers, damn. All in all the lesson learned is that if you to a pool you can get in good shape and maybe even see some boobies.
You mean if you believe what Francis says doctors say about this type of surgery. You can't discount the possibility he's exaggerating about that recovery time to make his progress look a little better. Still, your point that he hasn't played in 8 months is a good one. No way he'll be ready until after the first month or two has passed, if then. Still, right now we're just one Rafer-injury away from a terrible situation at PG, so here's hoping Steve comes back, even if it's mid-season.
Francis will be on the roster regardless if he can contribute or not. Rockets will use the time to see Brooks develop as a backup PG with Francis maybe playing 5-10 minutes and Barry putting in 5-10 minutes at the PG position. If Brooks doesn't pan out and Francis shows no sign of improvement, his contract will be used along with maybe Head to find a backup PG. If Francis improves during the season and can play legit PG minutes by the time playoffs begin, that's an A+ for all Rockets fans. Don't even mention to me about Strawberry, he'll be cut because his contract[non-guaranteed] is only useful if he is cut. Besides Strawberry is not the solution to our PG depth.
I just want to see SF3 come back and contribute. Prove the doubters wrong Steve! Thanks again, Jason.
