He could be bluffing and it may not even be true. There are smoke screens all the time and sometimes, if a team knows that you'll match, but wait till the last minute to do so, thereby possibly costing them another free agent, they won't go near it. Kind of like what we did with Landry last time when we waited till the last second to match.

The first thing is that Bosh is not very good defensively, and even if they helped us by doing a sign and trade, they're not just going to give us Bosh for our crap or mid-tier players, they're going to make us eat Hedo's contract, which I know Morey wouldn't do.

Great article. Morey predicts he will be on someone's doorstep on June 30th. I think the safe bet is that it is Chris Bosh's doorstep.

Great breakdown. Thanks, I didn't realize that about the opportunity cost of playing the RFA game. I'd rep you if I could.

Adding on to that. If a team makes a truly ridiculous large offer to a player that we've gone on record we are going to match just to screw us over, and then we don't match, they instead screwed themselves over by largely over paying.

I love Scola but if someone wants to give him 15 million they can have him.

You know Whiteside did avg. 5.4 blks per game

    that's more than Aldrich 3.5 bpg ... :)

These are several ways of looking at what he said:-

    a) Morey never gives anything away....... so it's just chit chat!

    b) He is forewarning us not to expect too much change and we will mostly have to make do with what we have.......shooting for 55-58 games next year!

    c) This Morey the Fox/Wizard is telling us in code that he will be in there as one of the clubs pushing to significantly improve two spots on the roster by sign & trade.

I thought Martin was the replacement for Mc Grady and NOT to be our off season deal.Although we did get Hill also in that deal . :p
I hope Morey isn't settled on keeping the obvious tail enders!

Please guys enough with the Camby and M. Miller requests. Neither of these 2 will be able to last an entire season. We have enough injury prone players already. Let's set our sites higher. Let's all hope that we do not trade the 14th pick so that we would be able to address our back-up center problem. The draft is our best bet at doing so. Aldrich is too high a pick for us. W e have a better chance at getting Whiteside or Alabi. Also, i am all for getting Chris Bosh on this team. I am just saying, don't use this years pick and don't trade Hill. Magic Morey can make this happen.

"That doesn’t mean we won’t be pursuing folks in July, we definitely will and I’m sure I’ll be on someone’s doorstep June 30th."

"On the elite free agents moving via sign -and -trade: I actually think they’ll all go sign-and-trade. Even the teams with room often will sign-and-trade into the room and get something back from the team. A free agent is picking where he wants to go more or less, so he eventually tells the team, “I want to go there,” and the team doesn’t want to lose him for nothing, so they try to work out some sort of arrangement."

these statements are wat stood out most to me..

    A) I feel it will be Bosh doorstep he'll be at like Gortat last year, except this yr he has a TON of chips to play with to make a S&T deal very enticing

    B) by DM publically sayin EVERY elite FA will more than likely do S&T's if they switch teams are huge cuz we are the most suited to do a sign and trade which makes us the fromt-runners

this is pretty incredible for us if it works out this way

Translation: The expiring contracts of Jeffries and Battier will be worth more in trade in February than during the off season, especially with the new CBA and a lower salary cap. I'll try to get rid of them during the summer, but the odds are against it.

nope it would discourage other teams cuz they know NO MATTER WAT we will sign them..

so why waste the time to bother woo-ing a player and sign him to an offer sheet when thhat team is gona match when they coulda spent productive time on a more feasible FA?

exactly its a verbal warning to the league to not even waste their time

You don't get rid of a player like Battier, you lose him.

Blocks are only one part of defense... Aldrich is better than Whiteside in virtually every other area on the defensive end.

You know Aldrich, when he was 20 like Whiteside is this year, ave better in points, rebounds, steals, assists, FG%, eFG%, and TS% than Whiteside...:)

Plus...he doesn't get overpowered as easily.

I'll add that the Rockets will wait to last day to match so that the other team can't use their salary cap space elsewhere.
