If we have 24 secs of offense result in a Joey Dorsey jumpshot then Adelman should be fired on the spot.

My hope for Dorsey is a genuine enforcer who comes on and clears - rather than clogs - the paint to allow Yao room to operate and the guards to get to the basket.

If he averages 10-15 mins a game and grabs a few boards, plays solid D and doesn't make stupid turnovers then I am happy with his first year.

He should try to develop a jumpshot similar to McDyess'. Mechanical but gets the job done.

    haha

What is wrong with a "mechanical" jumpshot?

Im not even sure what you mean?

A jumper with good 'mechanics' means you have good technique, your comment seems to indicate there is something wrong with that?

You notice he completely avoided the question on how many free throws he made in practice in Memphis? If he made 75 out of 100 in practice in Memphis, then he hasn't improved at all. He should have just lied and said he was a 50% shooter in practice also.

As in not a pure jumpshot. A little robotic, stiff,. Basketball is a rhythm game, everything is free flowing.

I just hope he has some semblance of a J to keep defenses honest. I mean, if T-Mac is going to drive and kick, sometimes Dorsey is going to be a little further out than he needs to be for a dunk and he's going to have to hit that little 10-15 footer ala Scolandry. If he can get a J as consistent as Landry's, then we're set. He'll be crowning people left and right AND shooting the open J. Nice.

It's not so hard to catch up with him because he is too heavy to run fast enough to escape our range.

If he can make 15-18 foot jumpers I will be happy. He really doesn't have to shoot 3s.

    Thank you Dorsey,

For making the possible loss of Landry sooooo much easier to take.

The day I see JD shoot a 3, I may throw up (unless of course it goes in!)... What are his plans, really? Iso-post up from the elbow like Mac?

This guy is going to be a monster on the boards and all, but to think he'll actually have more than garbage points, fast break points, and the occasional gift wrapped layup from Tracy, is a little far reaching I'd say... I don't think we'll see Joey Dorsey coming off screens any time soon.

How the hell are we supposed to get behind this Carlos Boozer loving, Cowboy fanboi!? The fact that he's wearing Rockets red helps a lot though :D

    good luck though J

I would be very happy if he can just do what we expected him to do, that is, be a force on defense and get rebounds. His D in summer league looked a little off at times.

So much for a player that will probably spend a good deal of the season in the D-league.

Great interview. Wish more reporters shared the same passion for their sport.

Sorry--all I heard was the guy likes:
    Dennis Rodman
    Carlos Boozer
    Dallas Cowboys
    Deion Sanders
and wants to play football in 3-4 years

if he has half the NBA game he thinks he does, GREAT--I'm a Rox fan first and foremost and wanna see the team win.

Right now he sounds like he's all about blowin' smoke and rooting for a**holes

Ever see the players warm up before a game? I've seen Eddy Curry drain shot after shot from midrange, but poor Rybo just can't shoot.

I really dont see Dorsey doing much in the league. He's big and can board but he had very little offensive skills in college and that will just get worse in the NBA. Also, he is a very cocky person (saying he would shut down Oden in the 2007 ncaa tourney) and with Adelman only playing him 5-7 minutes (if that) a night he is going to turn into a whiny baby. I say let him play in the D-League.....we'll take our chances without him
