I think they thre in a week or 2 more rest than Battier really needs, just for the sake of perfect recovery.
battier was not going to play many minutes in the pre-season anyway. this is a smat move from the coaching staff. also dont expect to see mcgrady or yao, barry or even alston play many minutes. i expect landry, brooks, dorsey, brooks, and von wafer and the other bench players to see alot of minutes.
you are right preseason is for young players, but this is also for guys like Tracy and Yao to just get back on the court and catch you best basketball shape...You just don't go on the court after doing nothing for 3 months and play well...
fortunately battier will come back before the season begins. It doesn't matter to miss some preseason games. Just as battier said:" sweat, it doesn't matter, that's the accumulation for my experience; low ebb, it doesn't matter, that's my preperation for the peak; failur , it doesn't matter, that's the reason for my success;injury , it doesn't matter, that's my chance for some rest. no matter where, no matter when, i tell myself, I can play." wish battier to come back as soon as possible.
Don't really think it will matter much, IMO. With the addition of Artest, we won't likely give up that much in terms of regular season success with Shane out. As long as the Rockets go into the postseason with everyone healthy and meshed, I wouldn't really care even if we are the 8 seed.
We will be fine. We have enough depth that it won't really matter. We just need everybody ready come playoff time.
One of the best post's I've seen in a while. All these season predictions coming out from major sources and everyone of them speak of the rocket's hypothetically with health cocerns being their reason.
I said MANY MINUTES . i'm sure they'll play a few minutes or start games, but they wont be playing 30 minutes or anything close to it.
