It's nothing more than hiim getting rest. He has played just about every game since he got here and the ones he missed was for him to get a little break.
I'm convinced now... Les Alexander sold his soul to the devil for two championships. The team has been doomed to injury plagued seasons ever since. I kept hoping time would run out on that deal -- 2 rings Les, but 10 years of dashed hopes in exchange -- but the suffering continues as long as he's the owner. Of course, I don't really believe this, but it sure is weird.
I don't think it'll be too bad, if anyone can recover from not playing during the preseason it's Battier. He's been with us for a while now, he'll be fine. Plus, the report says up to four weeks, so he might be back before then. The preseason will be a good run out for Artest, he can play major minutes in some of the games, and we'll see how this team gels. There isn't a thing about Battier that would stop him from working well in our system.
Here we go again. I guess he didn't take care of himself during the summer?? Why does this start all of a sudden. This team is cursed with injuries.
Anybody know how does T-Mac's situation look like? I know he has been practicing with the team but Morey said he feels a little pain after those surgeries. He said it's nothing major but...??
Hmm as long as he makes a full recovery it might end up being blessing in disguise. I've always thought that Battier wore down at the end of the season these past 2 years from playing hoops year long and then being the team's stopper and in addition, never missing a game and always giving the max effort. Now he'll miss summer ball and the pre-season, and will have someone else to share stopper duties with. Once he gets healthy and rolling, he might have his strongest season yet and plenty left in tank for the end of the season and playoffs.
So our rotation at the 2/3/4 for now is something like: SG McGrady/Barry SF Artest/McGrady PF Scola/Landry (plus Hayes, Dorsey) I think we're in ok shape. Better than ok, actually. We need Battier to be healthy for the playoffs, but we don't need to panic. This team is seriously deep.
He should be ready by the start of the season. Not a big deal, especially since we have Artest now. The good news is, Yao, T-Mac and Artest all should be ready by training camp.
we were a great defensive team without battier.... i think we'll be alright. better than alright, now that artest is here. im ok with him taking another 2 weeks or so to make sure he's as close to 100% as possible. we have the players to make sure everyone gets the time they need to recover
