I thought Steve played pretty well tonight. He showed even with the rust that he can still take guys off the dribble which this team desperately needs. If RA doesn't start playing him more then he's just plain dumb. I wonder what spell Rafer Alston has over coaches.
Obviously what RA meant was taking one guy out hurts them more than it helps them. Alston offers things that Francis doesn't and vis versa, but you can't replace Alston's low turnovers and passing. You can however replace Francis' scoring with James.
Ok i just saw the interview. First off I thought it was funny how he said: "I dont know why that's such a big question around here", when asked about Steve playing. Secondly he said, "When you put someone in you have to take someone out...who would you replace?" That reiterates my point in that Rafer's passing can't be replaced, and neither can James' scoring or Head's 3 point shooting. Seems to me Francis needs to definitely prove that he's a better scorer than James and Head, otherwise he'll be relegated to the bench once T-Mac comes back....which could be Wednesday.
Adelman obviously thinks so. It's not that Luther scores few points in limited minutes. It's that he spreads the floor with his 3 point shooting. Francis isn't nearly the catch and shooter that Luther is. Luther also seems much more comfortable in this offense than Francis, who still seems tentative and thinks before he moves.
Throw out last night when the Suns didn't bother playing defense. You don't think Luther "seems tentative and thinks before he moves"? If you ask me, Luther is the living definition of being uncomfortable in this offense. When you say he spreads the floor with his 3 point shooting, have you also noticed how easy it is to guard him? He is short, has a slow release and misses 90% of the time unless his shot is completely uncontested. Except for last night, what is noticeable about Luther so far this season is he contributes virtually nothing on both ends of the floor.
You prove my point. Instead of discussing what happens on the floor, all you can say is "Adelman says so". This shows you can't even back up your own opinion with facts. We can now end the discussion. Needless to say, anyone who would have dared to argue, "JVG knows best" as their final point would have been rightfully flamed into ashes. Obviously there are locker-room issues with SF, but all I'm discussing here is what happens on the court.
I don't know about that. Just from that one game, Francis looked just as good as a passer as Alston was. In fact, he's able to penetrate and dish, something that Rafer can not do well. Being able to penetrate the defense opens up our offense more than just standing around the perimeter. If Steve can play in control like last game, I wouldn't be surprised if he took Rafer's spot later in the season. Aside from training camp/preseason, Skip has not done much. I don't think his passing is so great that we can dismiss his offensive miscues. I also noticed that in most of our games, the starters would get off to a slow start and the bench always brings us back. Same with last night, whenever Steve came into and the game and Rafer left, we made a run.
Now you are just being plain stupid. I didn't say or imply anything about a conspiracy. Way to divert and ignore my point so you don't have to answer it. Check my sarcastic signature, knucklehead, and see what I think about an Adelman conspiracy against SF.
Conspiracy, no. Fear and reluctance, perhaps. The Rockets got off to a 6-1 start and we're 6-3 before T-Mac's injury...they still had a winning record. Maybe he's somewhat hesitant to give Steve more minutes when it comes at the cost of those guys who helped the team get off to a good start. And yes, despite is horrid shooting, Rafer has helped the team. The problem is...he (rafer) has hurt as much as he has helped them. My thought's on Stevie was he just wasn't ready yet, which is why he had been relegated to the bench. From what I saw last night, he couldn't be any worse than Rafer. And considering that he's spent the last 10 games on the bench and his shot reflected that, he's only gonna get better once he is given more minutes on a consistent basis. In comparison to what Rafer does, I saw Steve running the offense pretty well, making some good passes and penetrating with RESULTS. Yes he wasn't very good from the field, but he'll find his shot once he shakes the rust off (rafer's was never there) I think his play last night earned him more minutes and I hope now that he gets it. I also hope RA isn't too much of a chicken s**t to do it...take a chance...you don't have to put him in the starting lineup or anything (not yet)...but give him some more minutes.
It's not a lockerroom situation. It's a PERFORMANCE situation. Rafer, James, and Head have outperformed Francis since the start of training camp, and that's why they have the all the minutes, and frankly I don't see that changing anytime soon.
Rafer and Luther (except for last night) haven't "outperformed" a practice dummy during the first 11 games. Training camp, where they excelled, is long over.
You outperform people in practices, not in games. Practice is where it matters and Francis hasn't outperformed anyone.
That's idiotic. Games is where the rubber hits the road. It's practice that doesn't matter. Well it matters some but not as much as game time.
I was talking about performance-wise. Practice is where you can guage how a player will perform during game-time, and obviously Francis hasnt shown enough during practice to warrant playing time from Adelman.
By your warped logic, Rafer Alston rules the practice floor and because of that fact he should start all the time every time. Even though he stinks it up in actual game time when it really matters. Gimme a break
I wonder how long are people going to hold on to this "they outperformed him in training camp/preseason" argument? It holds merit right now because it's still early but what about a couple months from now? If those guards continue their poor-sub par play or we're losing more games than we should, are people still going use the same argument? Because it seems as if the only reason that they're ahead of Steve is because of training camp/preseason. Which is fine. But, as the season goes on, whatever happened in the beginning will become less and less important. It's not going to be about what you did then, but what you are doing now.
