Looks like it's between Joshua Smith and Arsalan Kazemi for that last spot. Excited to see AK play in a rockets uniform tonight!
I wish DM would trade TJ for picks. We need to make room, somehow, for Three Sandwiches and (yes!) Jeremy Tyler. I'm open to seeing what this Kazemi can do, but... Well, we'll see.
I believe it's a matter of if Capela can come back healthy or not. If Capela doesn't come back, We would obviously need a center and Joshua Smith would be the pick. Right now though it is literally between the two (everyone else is out of the question), AK and JS for that last spot. We'll know after the next two games. I like what I saw from AK's 4th quarter and so did the team.
Maybe the guy plays solid or not but we have too many PFs on the squad already. Guys who can play PF: 1. Ariza 2. Brewer 3. Tjones 4. Dmo (injured) 5. Capela (injured) 6. Montrezl Harrel 7. Dekker (scrub/bust so far) Guys who can play center: 1. Dwight (injured) 2. Dmo (injured) 3. Capela (injured) Half the team can play PF if needed while all of our Cs are currently injured. If it comes to the 15 spot IMHO we should J Smith instead.
Brewer at the 4? I'm a fan of small ball, but any PF with a collegiate level post up game will destroy him.
You don't have to play a NBA game to be classified as a bust. Some people know what it takes to be a real NBA player that contributes to a winning team. Dekker is not that. He doesn't have a single skill set good enough to translate to decent minutes on a winning team. At best, he is an end of bench scrub. I didn't need Royce White to play a NBA game to call him a bust or even that Greek Papa Scrub who a lot of "real fans" here thought has a bright NBA future. Even a lottery team like the Nuggets waived the certified scrub off
We need a center regardless if Capela is healthy or not. Dwight is injury prone, and won't be playing a lot of back to back games. Who knows when DMo will return, and how many minutes he will play? Too many question marks surrounding the center position. We will need Smith more than we will need Kazemi.
For every player they're right about there are a number of players they're wrong about too. Capela looked absolutely lost when he logged his first minutes in preseason and the regular season. Why is it so difficult to grasp that young players aren't finished products? Players mature, they get better, they figure things out. "Some people know what it takes to be a real NBA player that contributes to a winning team." You're correct. They're employed by NBA teams as scouts and analysts.
We were chanting "Ka-ze-mi!, Ka-ze-mi!, Ka-ze-mi!" everytime he went to the FT line in the red rowdies section. Still think Joshua Smith has the better chance of making the squad.
