Rockets CEO Tad Brown has often said that the Rockets have pursued another All-Star weekend since the 2006 event in Houston ended, but he said Tuesday that he was more confident than ever that the Rockets and the City of Houston would land the game and the events that come with it. “Since last All-Star game, we’ve submitted to the league a proposal to host the All Star game again. We’re under consideration for 2014. We’re hopeful, but the NBA has not made any determinations. There are a number of cities bidding for the same thing. We’re working with the City and the Sports Authority to try to get the game.” In a Fox 26 story reporting on the bid, Brown said it could take until the end of the year for the NBA to reach a decision on the Houston bid. “We’ve been talking to the league since the last All Star game here about getting another,” Brown said. “We submitted it almost a year ago. We’ve been talking to the All Star games coming up literally since the game finished up here in ’06, and ’14 was the first one that opened up with dates that worked for the city as well as for us.” Next season’s All-Star game is in Orlando, Fla. The 2013 game has not been assigned, but the Rockets and City of Houston did not apply for that game.
Fox is the one who broke the news, I think here's a better article: http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/nba/110215-houston-rockets-all-star-game Does anyone know what a team/city does to get the game? Does the city actually pay money to bring it here?!
i remember pretty much all of espn "experts" hating on houston after the ASG. greg anthony and screamin a smith in particular..
Some people in the media hate Houston for some reason. Many of them were saying the same things for the Super Bowl in 2004. But the fans seem to love Houston and are surprised when they get here.
