Sure it is, but it also known that these guys start there regimen way early in the AM. I guess hats off to these guys for no reports of mis-conduct or tardiness to practice. But im sure anyone will agree that the night life does nothing to help your productivity for the next morning. I guess deep down, it comes down to the lack of wins. and i knew this would potentially be a lottery season, but i still expect every game to be treated as a make or break game. I think im most pissed off because D.Rose $h!t on us twice =\ but im just asking for more consistency out of our team. and i know my week can be inconsistent when im out socializing especially in the week nights. and these guys work all week. they dont have weekends.
Your life can revolve around your job. You gotta go out and have some fun as well. If you bury yourself in that, you lose your passion for it.
I think it would make a difference. I definitely feel sluggish at the gym the day after partying. I don't think players should drink during the regular season. Their occupation relies on physical health. Heck, you can't even do a desk job properly after a night of drinking.
And having to deal with a newborn baby will make a difference. Should players not be allowed to have children? Athletes can responsibly drink and party.
1. Not sure where you got this was battier's worst season as a rocket...other than his FT%, everything else is remained basically the same or increased stat wise, especially his blocks. His last 5 games have all been what people have been calling for stat-wise. Considering the season is only 20 games in or so, i would hardly call it his worst season or say it's "nothing consistent" when he's been just that lately. When was he spending his nights "drinking"? 2. Do you know what their schedule is like? They don't have a 9-5 job, so why should their bedtime be the same as someone who does? How do you know they aren't waking up late at noon, but then in the gym from 2 to 6 pm? then watching film from 6 to 10, before going out? Lowry tweeted he had worked out, then watched game film, before playing his video games after he got blasted for just mentioning Black Ops. 3. Scola has a family...he's not lilely to go out to a club...especially when he's not as familiar with this culture, but he does go out to eat with all of his ex teammates like Manu, delfino, Tiago, and so on. Right after the game, even if it's a late game. Were you there to know he didn't order a drink? Alcohol isn't only served in clubs. Even if he did, he's got the right to do it after a game. No different than so many 9 to 5 people who go home after work to have a drink or stop at a bar/restaurant. i thinkt he problem you have is that they earn too much moeny for what they do...and i agree, but that's the way it is, mainly because of us fans. If you want them to actually earn those millions, well thats not very realistic. Not many people can really say they earn and deserve so much money. I wouldn't even give the president what Kobe makes.
You want people to be consumed in the sport, 24 hours a day, and then you wonder why peopple crack under the pressure... and resort to drugs... Im sorry but we cant have a team full of kobes putting up 1000 shots a day. According to your standards, when can they get a break? What about those coporate employees who make millions a year shouldd they be working 24 hours a day? your also assuming they get wasted every night a couple drinks to some people is nothing...
They're grown men. It's not a not a matter of should they be allowed.. And the answer to your question.. athletes are generally rich. Get a nanny or have your baby momma get up. I wouldn't expect a player to be up all night before game day or a morning practice. The bottom line is that your body exerts energy burning off alcohol. Ask Carlos Rogers or Maurice Clarett what alcohol can do to an athlete. Clarett would come to training camp hung over, which resulted in his NFL career ending before it began.
I think you hit the money on the last paragraph. Thank you RV6. My mind is at ease. thats all i needed to hear. Heck im not saying these guys shouldnt be allowed to or not even saying they shouldnt. everyone is entitled to his or her own. i was simply asking "is it right?" in reference to paying these guys millions to lose games.. if your losing theres a problem somwhere. hell i have no idea what our problem is. but i know from personal exp. that drinking does not help me the next day, so that is the one i chose to point out. it was just a thought as mentioned originally, nothing more then that.
celebrating because they can still play basketball. As for you a fan, you should put to the tipjar everytime Rox wins and get a refund everytime they lose . So the objective is to be above 50 winning%. J/K.
Please, a few years ago me and some friends partied with Nash and Leandro barbosa at Escobar on a Saturday night. The next day they proceeded to ball out and beat the Rockets.
you have to learn to let it go...they all make millions and in the end almost less than half actually win more than lose and there's always only one left standing. Also, don't compare your schedule to theirs. These guys have long flights, bus rides. They sleep on planes at 1 am or 1 pm. They take naps. I remember Cuttino said he used to have a lift across from toyota center for game days. He would go there early, get a good meal, take a nap, and have a short trip to the TC. These guys lead different lives and their schedules can be consistent for a day or two and then completely different. By the time they've been in the league for a while most get used to it and know how to take advantage of the time. A lot of young players already know because they dealt with it in college.
I doubt Kobe drinks during the regular season and it's well documented that LBJ does not drink at all..at least in public..
some people are just made to play the game...before michael vick got locked up all he had to do was put his pads on, on game day and he would run circles around everyone. during vince youngs texan days he would just put his pads on and do work. during t-macs earlier years, he was naturally a gifted scorer. lets take these 3 examples. Michael vick goes to jail and comes back, out of shape. he developed great practice habits and is now a biproduct of those habits. vince young...no longer starts for the titans. and his coach has called him lazy. and t-mac...well we all know that story, he has more excuses then a kid who gets coal for xmas. and he was called lazy and destructive to the team by adleman.
My point being good practice habits are important at any level, and especially the highest level. and part of good practice is refraining from things that are harmful such as alcohol. again im just looking at one problem and it probably isnt really an issue. and another prime example of bad practice habits is the heats weak start this season. many sources including coach erik have said they are lazy and goof off at practice. however it seems they have turned it around with this 5 game win streak. maybe they got serious?
You're thinking of Wade. I've seen several stories about LeBron drinking or wanting to party. Specifically, the ESPN story that got pulled talked about him having bottles at various clubs for his birthday. Then the story about him asking the Heat coach if they could stay an extra night in New Orleans so that they could party on Bourbon.
