I'd have made a run at Calvin Booth who's stuck in a big logjam at center up here in Dallas although Cuban did announce that he was going to try to buy out Evan Eschmeyer's contract which would thin the herd a bit. He was hurt for most of last year and did not produce for the Sonics but I saw him play for the Mavs and his skill set would be an ideal fit for JVG's system. Of course, they would have to pay more for Booth but they would be getting a better player. That's why I think CD went with Mutumbo despite all of the basketball negatives - because he came very cheap and represents an expiring contract for next season.

Geez! What wrongs have I perpetrated here? I thought that this was a discussion board on the Rockets and not a rubber stamping cheering section for anything the Rockets do or say. So what you and others are saying is that it's WRONG to state an opinion that does not agree with your own. If that's the case, then why are you on a "discussion" board if you don't want to "discuss" anything?

Not really. Actually I'm sort of relieved it wasn't Evan Eschmeyer...

Yes, you are correct. CD looked at his roster and saw that there was no name pencilled in next to "Backup Center" so he signed Mutumbo because he was cheap and played center. Remember though, this will be a "good" trade only IF Mutumbo can stay healthy enough to actually be able to spell Yao. Given his recent history, that's one big IF.

You are also right in that this trade was more for financial reasons than for basketball ones. CD gets to dump 3 contracts for 1 which expires next year. And if Mutumbo can manage to stay erect for the entire season then ol' CD will have hit the jackpot! This is simply another "make-do" move on their part. The problem I have with moves like this is that they (Rockets) have been making them for over 10 years now without getting anywhere.

People have actually been too nice to you!
Consider 1 of your earlier posts:
This is a msg board and it's OK to discuss and disagree about things, but for the likes of you to use those words to attack a grown man and a professional like CD is not tolerated!
