I doubt it, Bulls are getting equal value for Deke and its hard not to take a 3 for 1 deal. Also, the Bulls are really high on Pike, they really think he can make a comeback and fill some of the scoring void that Crawford left behind.

Don't worry, things will go through. :)

this trade is good for both teams... especially for us, we fill a big void with Deke who is more than capable of covering that spot for us. How about Pike, well, we got rid of three contract players and JPax happens to think Pike will do something in Chi which I don't.

Overall, we are ready, besides all the PS2 trading, this team has a good chance to make it out of the 1st round.

Tmac and Yao will get theirs.

JJ and Juwan Howard, I'm curious to see if JJ can have a better year than last year. I'm hoping with less pressure Juwan Howard can be a consistent shooter and a good team defender / rebounder.

Ward / Lue / Sura... I'm curious who out of the three will play the hardest, make smart decisions, doesn't turn the ball over, and "play DEFENSE...

Motay... bring same O game from last year, lets improve Defense and Rebounding

Boki... this is your year to play significant minutes, just hit your outside shots
Padgett... just hit your outside shots please...

at least the top 4 or 5 players on our team can play with anyone in the league. the 9-12 on our roster doesn't look so good compared to other teams in the league though.

    Boki, Weatherspoon, Padgett, Gaines

Why did we give Padgett 5 years... that's ridiculous IMO.
    3 Max IMO.

I checked with the precogs here in DC's crime unit, and they think we are going to steal the championship this year. That trophy has our name written all over it. Here we go.

How many teams can hoestly say that they took out the trash over the last year. Our team got rid of the players that were thought to be holding us back. There's really nothing but upside left. Well done.

    CD can't hit his threes. That's ka-RAY-zee.

That Padgett is the biggest dog I've ever seen. You think he'd help me kill that Deke. That Deke has got devil eyes.

Oh wow, some know-how for Yao
Mutombo says he's headed here as backup, mentor
    By FRAN BLINEBURY
    Copyright 2004 Houston Chronicle

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - In the land where diamonds are a relative bargain, the Rockets' attempt to mine an old-fashioned gem may have come up with a glitter.

"It's done," said Dikembe Mutombo. "I'm coming."

The 38-year-old former NBA All-Star confirmed that he has agreed to a trade with the Chicago Bulls that will bring him to Houston in exchange for Eric Piatkowski, Adrian Griffin and Mike Wilks. The Rockets will pick up the majority, if not all, of the money that is remaining on Griffin's contract.

The 7-2 Mutombo, currently attending the NBA's Basketball Without Borders-Africa outreach program, said he is excited about the prospect of joining Yao Ming on the front line in Houston.

"It is where I have wanted to be all along," Mutombo said Monday night. "I told them a long time ago that it was my wish, and I'm so happy that it was granted.

"I have already talked to (Rockets assistant coach) Patrick (Ewing) and several others, and I can't wait to get there."

Mutombo, a 15-year NBA veteran who had stops in Denver, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York, was obtained by the Bulls in a deal for guard Jamal Crawford but said he never wanted to remain in Chicago. He has averaged 11.7 points and 11.7 rebounds since becoming a first -round draft choice out of Georgetown in 1989.

What Mutombo will bring to the Rockets is a veteran who can spell Yao as backup center and provide the team with a shot-blocking presence. He ranked 14th in the NBA in blocked shots per game last season.

"I think it is a perfect fit for me in Houston, to play alongside Yao Ming," Mutombo said. "I think we can have some kind of club."

Mutombo said he agreed to the terms of the sign-and-trade deal on Friday, but his travels through Africa -- which included a stop in Kinshasha, Congo, to monitor the progress of the hospital he is building in his native land -- have kept him out of the NBA loop.

"I've never had a problem, never had a question that I wanted to play in Houston this season,"Mutombo said. "It was first on my list. Any why not?

"Look at the potential with Yao Ming and (Tracy) McGrady and Jim Jackson. That is a very impressive start, and I think it is a team that is ready to take off.

"I am just happy to be going to a place where I feel I can contribute and make an impact. I'm ready to play whatever minutes they want. I'm ready to help Yao Ming, to teach him whatever I can and whatever he wants to learn.

"Can you imagine what it would be like to have me and Yao on the court at the same time? Now you're talking about a real Twin Towers lineup. I am so excited."

It sounds like Dikembe is going to bring it this season. The vets who play for bad teams with no shot at the ring are sometimes disgruntled. Randy Johnson is an example.

So, what part of "or someone else with a bit more flexibility" did you not understand?

Okay your post has officially been nominated as the dumpest post of the year.

Can you f*** read at all? Where did I compare Mutombo to Pike in my post? I didn't even care who we traded away for him. The point is any team with Mutombo at this stage of his career will have a lower scoring average.

Have you ever watched Mutombo play at all? Watch some games before you open your stupid mouth. Mutombo has always been slow in transition games even at the peak of his career. He could score some points around basketbal by doing put backs, but he was never been a scorer. Wouldn't anyone with the Knicks, or the Nets, or even the Bulls knows his value more than you? Look at who was playing ahead of him for the Knicks & the Nets last season. The guy is washed, done!
